See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307410 "You receive a 'Compile error http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/compile-error-in-hidden-module-auto-exec-new-occurs-when-i-start.3442957/ in hidden module' error message when you start Word or Excel". Re: "Compile compile error in Error in Hidden Module: Distmon" (MarkATS) Jan 30, 2007 1:40 PM (in response to (dork_92618)) Remove all instances of the PDFMaker.dot and PDFMaker.xla files from \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office version/Startup folder and reinstall PDFMaker using the Help > Detect and Repair menu option in Acrobat. The first part, remove the PDFMaker.* files, was on the MS support site. My Office Startup Folder didn't contain either of those files to begin with. I did the Repair option under the help menu but, that wasn't the cure. I wonder if it had something to do with my uninstall of v7 before my install of v8? I'm going to uninstall and reinstall v8. distmon" shows up when its closed. This is because "pdfmaker.dot" and "pdfmaker.xla" are in the microsoft office startup and microsoft excel startup folder respectively. To remove this follow the steps: Delete pdfmaker.dot ( for word ) 1. Search the file and delete. 2. Locate the file in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Startup 3.C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\word\Startup Delete pdfmaker.xla ( for excel ) 1. Search the file and delete. 2. Locate the file inC:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Xlstart 3.C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\Xlstart These files can be either in both or at one location. Once they are deleted, the error will no longer show up.
