It shows up during the start up of Excel 2003 after the install of Acrobat standard 8. Thanks 42144Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Show 51 replies 1. Re: "Compile Error in Hidden Module: Distmon" (MarkATS) Jan 30, 2007 1:40 PM (in response to (dork_92618)) Remove all instances of the PDFMaker.dot https://forums.adobe.com/thread/300033 and PDFMaker.xla files from \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office version/Startup folder and reinstall PDFMaker using the Help > Detect and Repair menu option in Acrobat. The first part, remove the PDFMaker.* files, was on the MS support site. My Office Startup Folder didn't contain either of those files to begin with. I did the Repair option under the help menu but, that wasn't the cure. I wonder if it had something to do with my uninstall of v7 before my install of v8? I'm going to uninstall and reinstall v8. Published on Jul 31, 2013Using Windows XP compile error service pack 2 and getting this bug when trying to generate XML using ITR workbook I must admit that this was a strange bug for i personally didn't face it since i have a service pack 3 for windows XP but few people using service pack 3 also complain of this bug .One of my subscriber's while trying to fill the return (excel workbook ITR 1 )was getting this message .After analysing the message he got via his send compile error in email screenshot and going through his comments , i understood that it was not easy for me to replicate the problem because it seemed to be a operating system issue and in my parent laptop ,it didn't seem a good idea to virtualise (create a seperate system for this version of windows XP),so i virtualised my other laptop and yes the bug did came in service pack 2 , .Basically the VB coding done vide modules used to generate the Extended mark up document don't compile properly with versions of windows XP OS lesser than service pack 3 version...so people using windows XP service pack 2 might face this problem ,because when i installed windows XP service pack 2 in one of my 5 laptops , i got the same error ,Firstly pressing alt +F11 opens up the visual basic editor which shows the module which the developer has coded for the excel workbook to work and generate the XML ,Since clicking the XML throws up this error , it can be presumed that the OS with which it does has some compatibility issue ,next would be be to download a patch which enhances XML generation across such bugging operating systems ,So ,being a developer i understood , that the solution then lies in enhancing the XML capacity of the OS and so my search on google for XML enhancing patches for O
closing word 97. Top Compile error in hidden module: DistMon by Ron » Sun, 26 Oct 2003 00:37:55 OK, I've been getting this for about three days. Compile Error in hidden module: DistMon pops up when I start Excel and when I close Excel. I've looked it up on the knowledgebase and based on an article there I have: 1. Updated my adobe acrobat Which didn't help. 2. removed pdfwrite.xla and pdfwrite.dot Which didn't help. Anyone know what else could be causing this? Thanks Ron Top Compile error in hidden module: DistMon by Jan Karel » Tue, 28 Oct 2003 20:14:22 Hi, This is a default list of things-to-do when Excel exhibits startup problems. Try opening Excel without any addins or hidden workbooks: Start, Run, "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" /Automation Quotes mandatory, Note you may have to change the path. If your error disappears, there is either an add-in or a (hidden) workbook that is loaded upon XL's start, which bothers you. - Try locating the XLSTART directory, move everything from there. - In XL: Tools, Addins, note the ones checked and uncheck them one at the time, each time restarting XL - In XL, Tools, options, general. Check if a path is entered after "Alternate startup file location". Clear it. Another option is to open XL in Safe mode: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" /Safe Also, you might try: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe" /Regserver Yet another possible problem is a corruption of your toolbar customisation file. Locate all files with extension .xlb and rename the extension(s) to something like .old Now try and start XL again. Also, NAV has shown to cause "Excel caused an invalid page fault in module VBE6.DLL". You might try disabling the Office plug in of NAV. Other causes may be a full TEMP folder: In Windows 95/98 and ME Delete all files in C:\Windows\Temp In Windows NT/2000/XP Find and Select C:\Documents and Settings\
