Published on Jul 31, 2013Using Windows XP service pack 2 and getting this bug when trying to generate compile error XML using ITR workbook I must admit that this was a strange bug for i personally didn't face it since i have a service pack 3 for windows XP but few people using service pack 3 also complain of this bug .One of my subscriber's while trying to fill the return (excel workbook ITR 1 )was getting this message .After analysing the message he got via his send email screenshot and going through his comments , i understood that it was not easy for compile error in me to replicate the problem because it seemed to be a operating system issue and in my parent laptop ,it didn't seem a good idea to virtualise (create a seperate system for this version of windows XP),so i virtualised my other laptop and yes the bug did came in service pack 2 , .Basically the VB coding done vide modules used to generate the Extended mark up document don't compile properly with versions of windows XP OS lesser than service pack 3 version...so people using windows XP service pack 2 might face this problem ,because when i installed windows XP service pack 2 in one of my 5 laptops , i got the same error ,Firstly pressing alt +F11 opens up the visual basic editor which shows the module which the developer has coded for the excel workbook to work and generate the XML ,Since clicking the XML throws up this error , it can be presumed that the OS with which it does has some compatibility issue ,next would be be to download a patch which enhances XML generation across such bugging operating systems ,So ,being a developer i understood , that the solution then lies in enhancing the XML capacity of the OS and so my search on google for XML enhancing patches for Opreating system XP with service pack 2 started ,Of the various patches i downloaded , the one shown in the video worked for my case .Across any version of operating system for wind

MS Visual basic error: Compile error in hidden module: autoexec Checked the KB from MS: MS blames Symantec - Symantec blames Adobe - none of the above has a fix.. I've reinstalled Office XP already.. Help ((( alexenjen, Dec 18, 2003 #1 Sponsor Anne Troy Joined: Feb 14, 1999 Messages: 11,736 A VB error does not necessarily (and usually isn't) a virus. Hit Start-Search and find "Startup" You'll likely get lots o' returns. You want the FOLDER called Startup that resides under you MS Office folder. Double-click it. In it, you likely find blahpdfmakerblah.dot, blahpdfmakerblah.xlt or something like that. Just remove them. Some of these programs, in this case likely you've installed Adobe Acrobat full version, think they're so damn important. Geesh! Are you sure it's happening in ALL Office apps? Or just Word and Excel? Go to Tools-Templates and addins in Word. Anything there in the bigger box? Go to Tools-Addins in Excel. Anything checked there besides (perhaps) Analysis Toolpak? Anne Troy, Dec 18, 2003 #4 alexenjen Thread Starter Joined: Aug 3, 2000 Messages: 526 nothing in the "Add-Ins" & yes..show hidden files.. I changed the .dot files in the "Startup" foder to .old now the error has stoped on Word, but it's still the same on Excel alexenjen, Dec 18, 2003 #5 Anne Troy Joined: Feb 14, 1999 Messages: 11,736 Okey doke. Try looking in a folder called XLSTART. Anything in that folder opens when you open Excel. (hee hee, lots of people make the mistake of thinking all th
