Published on Jul 31, 2013Using Windows XP service pack 2 and getting this bug when trying to generate XML using ITR workbook I must admit that this was a strange bug for i personally didn't face it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taeQkJ5THvQ since i have a service pack 3 for windows XP but few people using service pack 3 also complain of this bug .One of my subscriber's while trying to fill the return (excel workbook ITR 1 )was getting this message .After analysing the message he got via his send email screenshot and going through his comments , i understood that it was not easy for me to replicate the problem because it seemed to be a operating system issue and in my parent laptop ,it didn't seem a good idea to virtualise (create a seperate system for this version of windows XP),so i virtualised my other laptop and yes the bug did came in service pack 2 , .Basically the VB coding done vide modules used to generate the Extended mark up document don't compile properly with versions of windows XP OS lesser than service pack 3 version...so people using windows XP service pack 2 might face this problem ,because when i installed windows XP service pack 2 in one of my 5 laptops , i got the same error ,Firstly pressing alt +F1

The error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with the version, platform, or architecture of this application. Click "Help" for information on how to correct this error." To my eyes, there seems to be not any unusual macro code which can cause the problem (unfortunately I can't right now access the specific row on which the error occurs). There is one pivot table in a hidden sheet compile error in which the macro updates among some other small things. And the weird thing is that on my Excel 2010, I don't get the error at all. The only difference I know is that I have 64-bit Windows and my client has 32-bit. The original Excel file is developed with Excel 2002. What might cause that error message? To check and remove if there is, follow these four steps: 1. Open the VBE (Alt + F11) 2. From the Tools menu click References 3. Uncheck (untick) any reference from the Available References listbox on the References - VBA Project dialog that start with "MISSING" and then click OK 4. From the File menu click Close and Return to Microsoft Excel Try and re-run the macro which (hopefully) now executes hassle free. In my Excel, the references have updated to version 14.0 automatically and
