Published on Jul 31, 2013Using Windows XP service pack 2 and getting this bug when trying to generate XML using ITR workbook I must admit that this was a strange bug for i personally didn't face it since i have a service pack 3 for windows XP but few people using service pack 3 also complain of this bug .One of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taeQkJ5THvQ my subscriber's while trying to fill the return (excel workbook ITR 1 )was getting this message .After analysing the message he got via his send email screenshot and going through his comments , i understood that it was not easy for me to replicate the problem because it seemed to be a operating system issue and in my parent laptop ,it didn't seem a good idea to virtualise (create a seperate system for this version of windows XP),so i virtualised my other laptop and yes the bug did came in service pack 2 , .Basically the VB coding done vide modules used to generate the Extended mark up document don't compile properly with versions of windows XP OS lesser than service pack 3 version...so people using windows XP service pack 2 might face this problem ,because when i installed windows XP service pack 2 in one of my 5 laptops , i got the same error ,Firstly pressing alt +F11 opens up the visual basic editor which shows the module which the developer has coded for the excel workbook to work and generate the XML ,Since clicking the XML throws up this error , it can be presumed that the OS with which it does has some compatibilit

We check that Macros is enabled but still doesn't help. Since we protect this excel spread sheet with a password, we don't want to be giving this password out to our users to check the References, and wondered if anyone had compile error in any idea how I can add VBA code to check whether the References required for the excel spread sheet is there and if not then bring up a message box to advise the user. The References we use are as follows: Visual Basic For Applications Microsoft Excel 11.0 Object Library Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library Microsoft Windows Common Controls 5.0 (SP2) Alternatively, if anyone has any other suggestions on how to go about this problem, that would be great. excel vba reference compilation share|improve this question edited Aug 8 '13 at 1:36 asked Aug 8 '13 at 1:01 SamoanProgrammer 3542415 I don't know if there's vba for checking references, but I know that the excel object library is often different depending on the version of office installed. My suggestion would be to use late binding if the commands are the same...but there's probably a better way. –RowanC Aug 8 '13 at 1:27 Hi mate, I'm still quite new to VBA programming, so what do you mean by using late binding? –SamoanProgrammer Aug 8 '13 at 1:40 support.microsoft.com/kb/245115 –RowanC Aug 8 '13 at 1:55 thank you @SamoanProgrammer would you know how your users can add references if there is a password on the VBA code? Hey, a Windows update the other day seems to be causing this error in AutoCAD. I think it is only a problem with the 2007 version of Office products that were updated (two computer are having the problem in the office but had Office 2007 updated the rest are okay and had office 2010 updated). On one of those computers I was able to do a system restore to before the update and everything is now working, however the other didn't have a restore point to go back to. I tried uninstalling all the updates but it still isn't working so I assume it did something with VBA and the references AutoCAD is trying to use. The first image is what I get when I try to run basically any command (not just custom VBA but line gives the error, quit and so on). The second image is the error I get in the actual custom project (DrawingSettings is a custom form in the project that isn't recognized for some reason). The third image is all the references used by my project, all seem to be in the right place. Is there a way to determine which reference is ca
