It is annoying to see the error. Suggestions on how to fix this. I've looked through the forums and have only found Windows related solutions and those back to MS Word 2013. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/838675 Thank you… Edited by Jonathan Vogel-Borne Wednesday, July 13, 2016 3:53 PM Wednesday, July 13, 2016 3:52 PM Reply | Quote Answers 110 Sign in to vote I HAVE THE ANSWER! Well, this worked for me, anyway. Since I updated to Word version 15.24 recently, when I either start up or quit Word, I get the error describe: "compiler error in hidden module: link". The reply given above by Steve Fan is what https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f0a463ed-97a3-4f93-90fe-5071be819ce6/compile-error-in-hidden-modulelink-on-mac-365?forum=officeitpro led me to find the solution, but didn't work in itself. The path describe above simply doesn't lead to the described content. However, having previously found (with great difficulty) Outlook's new location for storing its email database, I had a clue where to start looking. So basically, the path that Steve Fan should have quoted is as follows: ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/Word/ I.e. start tunnelling down from your home folder (~), not the root of the startup disk. Inside the above Word folder I found a new file (dated 30 Jun 16) called "linkCreation.dotm". Promising, I thought, given the 'link' reference in the name and in the error message. I moved this file out of the folder and tried loading and quitting Word again. This time it worked fine, without the error message. Solved! For what it's worth, I also had another file called "Bookends.dot" in the above folder alongside the problem file. I left that in place, and it isn't causing a problem. Hope that helps someone else… Proposed as answer by Richard Hallas Thursday, July 14, 2016 5:02 PM Marked as answer by Steve FanMicrosoft contingent staff, Moderator Friday, July 22, 2016 6:11 AM Thursday, July 14, 2016 5:02 PM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote Seeing the same error, als

Published on Jul 31, 2013Using Windows XP service pack 2 and getting this bug when trying to generate XML using ITR workbook I must admit that this was a strange bug for i personally didn't face it since i have a service pack 3 compile error in for windows XP but few people using service pack 3 also complain of this bug .One of my subscriber's while trying to fill the return (excel workbook ITR 1 )was getting this message .After analysing the message he got via his send email screenshot and going through his comments , i understood that it was not easy for me to replicate the problem because it seemed to be a operating system issue and in my parent laptop ,it didn't seem a good idea to virtualise (create a seperate system for this version of windows XP),so i virtualised my other laptop and yes the bug did came in service pack 2 , .Basically the VB coding done vide modules used to generate the Extended mark up document don't compile properly with versions of windows XP OS lesser than service pack 3 version...so people using windows XP service pack 2 might face this problem ,because when i installed windows XP service pack 2 in one of my 5 laptops , i got the same error ,Firstly pressing alt +F11 opens up the visual basic editor which shows the module which the developer has c

Module 1 The debug option is not there. It does not allow me to do anything. The message says that this error commonly occurs when the code is incompatible with the version platform. Module 1 I dare say either you've upgraded recently or someone has used and saved the file in a from different version of Excel than the file was created in as some of the DLL's are located in different path locations between versions. See if these four steps help: 1. From the file in question, press Alt + F11 go into its Visual Basic Editor. 2. From the Tools menu select References 3. Scroll through the Available References listbox and untick any that start with MIS
