Published on Jul 31, 2013Using Windows XP service pack 2 and getting this bug when trying to generate XML using ITR workbook I must admit that this was a strange bug for i personally didn't face it since i have a service pack 3 for windows XP but few people using service pack 3 also complain of this bug .One of my subscriber's while trying to fill the return (excel workbook ITR 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taeQkJ5THvQ )was getting this message .After analysing the message he got via his send email screenshot and going through his comments , i understood that it was not easy for me to replicate the problem because it seemed to be a operating system issue and in my parent laptop ,it didn't seem a good idea to virtualise (create a seperate system for this version of windows XP),so i virtualised my other laptop and yes the bug did came in service pack 2 , .Basically the VB coding done vide modules used to generate the Extended mark up document don't compile properly with versions of windows XP OS lesser than service pack 3 version...so people using windows XP service pack 2 might face this problem ,because when i installed windows XP service pack 2 in one of my 5 laptops , i got the same error ,Firstly pressing alt +F11 opens up the visual basic editor which shows the module which the developer has coded for the excel workbook to work and generate the XML ,Since clicking the XML throws up this error , it can be presumed that the OS with which it does has some compatibility issue ,next would be be to download a patch which enhances XML generation across such bugging operating systems ,So ,being a developer i understood
i tried to debug i found the error is shown in the line: View 11 Replies Similar Messages: Compile Error In Hidden Module .. http://excel.bigresource.com/Compile-error-in-hidden-module-sheet1-3accKQUx.html Compile Error In Hidden Module Compile Error In Hidden Module On 2003 Compile http://www.ozgrid.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19862 Error In Hidden Module On Some Computers Compile Error In Hidden Module In Sheet 1 In Excel Compile Error In Hidden Sheet VBA - Checking If Row On Sheet2 Is Hidden And Hiding That Row On Sheet1 Run-time Error '50289' :: Project Protection / Module Protection / Module Visibility Copy And Paste compile error Special Values But Getting Error 'Compile Error - Expected Function Or Variable' Vba Macro Error: Compile Error Named Argument Not Found Error Message (Compile Error, Procedure Too Large) Compile Error Syntax Error In Macro Macro: Compile Error - Syntax Error Compile Error ... I know that I could explain for them to go into VBA select-references and then find the missing reference and unselect it but I have a password on the code which I don't wish to giveout to everyone. What can I do to fix this problem?? The missing reference by the way is Microsoft Windows Common Controls-2 (SP3). Any help would be great Excel Video Tutorials / Excel Dashboards Reports Reply With Quote April 30th, 2004 #2 Richie(UK) View Profile View Forum Posts OzMVP Join Date 25th January 2003 Location UK Posts 2,745 Hi s, Well, one option would be to try to add the reference at runtime. That way you can check whether an error is generated when you try to add the reference. Here's an example (one of Ivan F Moala's) using Runtime. VB: Dim ID As Object Const sGuid As String = " Referencing [" Const sMsg As String = "The required reference is not available. Workbook closing." Sub CreateRef_Library_ScFso() '// Set a Reference To SCRRUN.DLL = Scripting.FileSystemObject '// Microsoft scripting Runtime '// If it already exists Resume & Handle latter! On Error Resume Next Set ID = ThisWorkbook.VBProject.References ID.AddFromGuid "{420B2830-E718-11CF-893D-00A0C90
