Hold down the Ctrl key while opening Excel. At the prompt click Yes. This loads Excel without any macros (likely the source of your problem) or the default document template (which may be corrupt). See if it opens and closes cleanly. Repeat. See if it opens cleanly in normal mode and closes cleanly. The safe mode opening/closing should have replaced a corrupt normal.xlsx (default template file). If not, search for and delete normal.xlsx and normal.xls. Try running Excel in safe mode. Hol

I think it has something to do with Acrobat as it started once I loaded Acrobat onto my computer but I do not know how to make it go away. Word and Powerpoint work just fine. When I click on HELP next to it, I get the following message: Compile error in hidden module: (module name) A protected module cannot be displayed. The error has the following cause and solution: - There is a compilation error in the code of the specified module, but it cannot be displayed because the project is protected. - Unprotect the project and then run the code again to view the error For additional information, slect the item in question and press F1. I am not technical at all and totally unsure of what to do. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!! When code tries to execute it auto compiles, if there is a syntax error in it, and the project is protected you will receive that error. If You get it with every workbook you open it is most likely an addid. Try turning all you addins off, then opening a workbook. If the error stops then you just begin turning the addins on one by one until you get the error again then you will know which one is the guilty party.
