NumXL was tested with MS Excel 2007 with service pack 3 (SP3). Typically, if your computer has a Windows auto-update service enabled, then Excel will be updated automatically for you and this won't be an issue. If you have just installed http://support.numxl.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/204564133-Excel-2007-Compile-error-in-hidden-module-Utilities- MS Office 2007, you may want to download and apply the service pack. To find out more about your current installation, go to "Excel Options" and select Resources. Find/Replace add-in for Excel has stopped working, displaying the following error message: The error appears to be http://www.codedawn.com/index/-compile-error-in-hidden-module-message-in-excel a side effect of a recent update released by Microsoft. I https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-word-and-excel-2007-compile-error-in-hidden-module.695619/ don't know the details of exactly why this broke the add-in, and I'm not sure if it's caused by a Windows update or a Microsoft Office update. However, after scouring the Internet for a while, I came across a solution. Here are compile error the steps to restore the add-in's functionality: Close Excel Open a command prompt with admin privileges Run the following two commands: For 32-bit Windows: regsvr32 -u c:\windows\system32\mscomctl.ocx regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\mscomctl.ocx For 64-bit Windows: regsvr32 -u c:\windows\syswow64\mscomctl.ocx regsvr32 c:\windows\syswow64\mscomctl.ocx Open ExcelUsually that solves the problem, although the same "Compile error in hidden module" error compile error in can sometimes be caused by corrupted Excel files. So if the above steps don't do the trick, there is one other possible solution you can try: Close Excel Open Windows Explorer In the Windows Explorer address bar, type %appdata%and press Enter In the resulting list of subfolders, find and open the Microsoft folder In the Microsoft folder, find and open the Forms subfolder In the Forms folder, rename or delete the following two files (if they are present): comctllib.exd mscomctllib.exd Open Excel (it will automatically recreate the aforementioned files as it needs them)Hope that helps! Solved: Word and Excel 2007 compile error in hidden module Discussion in 'Business Applications' started by kabal02, Mar 21, 2008. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement kabal02 Thread Starter Joined: Mar 21, 2008 Messages: 5 First of all, my boss is running MS Office 2007 on Vista Ultimate. Both Word and Excel create error messages upon startup, but not closing. Here are the messages. Excel 2007 "Compile error in hidden module: ThisWorkbook" Word 2007 "Compile error in hidden module: uifunctions" I've looked at all of the threads from this forum and other forums, even the microsoft support site but can't seem to find what is going on. I've searched for both pdfmaker files and found nothing, tried looking at the references after going into Visual Basic from both Word and Excel. There is only one add-in on there and it is Nitro PDF Professional, but it doesn't show up in the list that can be unchecked. I'm wondering if this started because we just recently updated to the newest version of Nitro PDF, 5.3.2.3. But he was having trouble with it, so he rolled back to version 5.3.0.14. Oh yeah, I've also tried the Office detect and repair, but it didn't come up with anything either...big surprise. Thanks for any help in advance kabal02, Mar 21, 2008 #1 kabal02 Thread Starter Joined: Mar 21, 2008 Messages: 5 Well, it was a problem with Nitro PDF, just not exactly sure how. It was reinstalled without updating to the latest version. It looks like something with the new version messed with the add-ins for ThisWorkbook and uifunctions for Excel and Word respectively. kabal02, Mar 25, 2008 #2 kevin.croft Joined: Jun 18, 2008 Messages: 1 Hi there This error is caused in some cases by older addins still lurking around when you updated your your copy of Nitro PDF Pro. To Fix this simply uninstall completely using the Nitro Clean Up Utility and then
