I think it has something to do with Acrobat as it started once I loaded Acrobat onto my computer http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-questions/283584-compile-error-hidden-module-distmon-ms-visual-basic.html but I do not know how to make it go away. Word and Powerpoint work just fine. When I click on HELP next to it, I get the following message: Compile error in hidden module: (module name) A protected module cannot be displayed. The error has the following cause and solution: - There is a compilation error in the code of the specified module, but it cannot be displayed because the project is protected. - Unprotect the project and then run the code again to view the error For additional information, slect the item in question and press F1. I am not technical at all and totally unsure of what to do. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!! When code tries to execute it auto compiles, if there is a syntax error in it, and the project is protected you will receive that error. If You get it with every workbook you open it is most likely an addid. Try turning
Hidden Module: DistMon When Starting Excel in Windows by Dean | posted in: Sage Advice | 0 After installation of Adobe Professional 7, 8 or 9, http://sageadviceltd.com/visual-basic-error-compile-error-in-hidden-module-distmon-when-starting-excel-in-windows/ you may get the following error when you start Excel 2003 or Excel 2007: “Compile Error https://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-software/microsoft-windows/threads/38102/visual-basic-error-on-word-and-excel-2003 in Hidden Module: Distmon” The cause of this error is PDFMaker.xla, which loads at startup. Since Adobe Professional 8 uses DLL-addins to add the toolbar in Excel, you can safely delete the PDFMaker.xla file on your computer. Sometimes PDFMaker.xla is located in your profile directory: C:Documents and Settings

That should most likely fix the problem. 0 Discussion Starter Thinka 40 10 Years Ago I did try reinstalling Office, but no joy. That link you gave WlkingMan seemed to be talking about some really complicated stuff, i mean more complex than my sudden problem, because for a start I don't use MathType. Thanks though. Oh can't anybody, ANYBODY help me out here?! The error is so annoying cos it loks harmless, yet could possible develop into something bigger. 0 llopez704 10 Years Ago The errors are usually caused by an Adobe plugin. If you go to the XLStart folder in your profile (C:\Documents and Settings\"your login"\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLStart) and move the PDFMaker.xla out into the Excel folder, the errors will go away. 0 Davidasmithpe 5 Years Ago I have the same problem except it is only with Excel 2003. I installed MS Office 2003 Professional on my Windows 7 Professional NetBook. I have looked all over for xlstart, start, pdfmaker and have not been able to find it. What I did find was that inside Excel under the Macro, Visual Basic Editor there is a visual basic code w
