There Was An Error Compiling This Function The Visual Basic Module
This error can be caused by multiple scenarios. Let's look at two of the most common causes. Option #1 This error can occur when there is a broken Reference in your Access database and you've tried to use one of the built-in Access functions such as Left, Instr, Len, Year, Mid, etc. To correct the problem, you need to open your Access database. Press Alt+F11 to open the Microsoft Visual Basic window. When the Microsoft Visual Basic window microsoft access compile error can't find project or library appears, select References under the Tools menu. When the References window appears, check to see if there are any References checked that start with "MISSING:". If there are any, uncheck these References. Then click on the OK button. In this example, we want to uncheck the reference called "MISSING: Microsoft Word 9.0 Object Library". If you, in fact, need this Reference, go back to the References window (Tools > References) and re-check the reference. Click on the OK button. Now your Access database should have fixed the broken references and the error message should disappear. In the event that there were no References that start with "MISSING:", uncheck one or more of the existing References. Make sure that you record the References that you are unchecking. Then click on the OK button. Then go back to the References window (Tools > References) and re-check the references that you just unchecked. Access will update its references and the error message should now disappear. Option #2 This error can also be the result of a module in your Access database having two lines with "Option Compare Database" at the top of the module. For example: You can fix this error by removing one of the "Option Compare Database" lines from the top of the Access module. The error message should now disappear. Hello Forum, I work for a very large corporation. Today morning when I logged into my computer it asked for a reboot because of recent auto-update. This is a normal routine every http://www.dbforums.com/showthread.php?1649440-Compile-Error-in-query-expression month for corporate-wide Microsoft patches. Long story short - for the first time, after rebooting, all my MS Access 2000 queries that have any function in it, stopped working. I tried to create simple queries with function (e.g. select trim(FieldName) from TableA) to test, but with no luck. The error I get is: Compile Error. in query expression 'trim(FieldName)'. Somebody told that I was missing few links to some library references. I didn't know which ones so I reinstalled MS Access 2000 thinking it should resolve the problem. But again with no luck. Can someone help please... I have a module that sends emails out of Outlook based on information that is pulled into Access via an Excel worksheet. When I went from Access 2003 to Access 2010 I was getting the error: "Compile error: User-defined type not defined" when trying to run that particular module. I found the solution online and I just wanted to pass it along. To fix this error you will need to: 1) Open the Module 2) Go to Tools> References 3) Select Microsoft Outlook xxx Object Library Query Error-1st time I have seen this I am getting an error I have not encountered. Mike Painter, Jun 30, 2008 #1 Advertisements Allen Browne Guest If I understand you correctly: - [Last Call Time] is a Date/Time field. - If it is blank, you want to use today's date. - Otherwise you want to strip the time component, and just show the date. Since this calculated field will not be editable, you may be able to solve the problem with a text box bound to the [last call time] field, and set its Format property to "Short Date". Alternatively, try something like this: IIf([last call time] Is Null, Date(), DateValue([last call time]) For anyone who wants to know why I didn't suggest NZ(), see: http://allenbrowne.com/QueryPerfIssue.html#Nz -- Allen Browne - Microsoft MVP. I usually work on a problem a long time before asking for help. 99% of the time the solution come to me right after posting. I recompiled and everything works again. I don't think the error was in what I posted but just a "referred pain" Maybe the brownies want extra milk. Thanks again. I download a report two to six times a day and the [last call time] is a string containing the date and time in
