Sometimes, this error may be caused by some add-ins. If it works fine in this situation, try to disable add-ins in excel 2010. Click the File menu –> Options link –> Navigate to Add-Ins options. Select Disabled Items in the Manage dropdown and click the Go button. This would display the following Disabled Items window using which you can see and also re-enable the disabled add-in. You can select the ones you wish to re-enable and click the Enable button. If it also doesn't work in safe mode, try to see this KB article about You receive a "Compile error in hidden module" error message when you start Word or Excel: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307410 Hope that helps. You can get to it with these steps... Alt-F11 to Open VB Editor Ctrl-R to Open the Project Explorer Pane if it is not already open Find the Icon in the tree structure under Book1 labeled "This WorkBook" and Double-Click it. If you're experiencing this upon opening a new Excel session, then there might be a problem with the template workbook you're using for new workbooks, or in Personal.xlsb. Do you experience this same problem when Excel is closed and you Open an existing workbook (from another user) by double-clicking on it? Share Share this post on Digg Del.icio.us Technorati Twitter U

Published on Jul 31, 2013Using Windows XP service pack 2 and getting this bug when trying to generate XML using ITR workbook I must admit that this was a strange bug for i personally didn't face it since i have a service pack 3 for windows XP but few people using service pack 3 also complain of this bug .One of my subscriber's while trying to fill the return (excel workbook ITR 1 )was getting this message .After analysing the message he got via his send email screenshot and going through his comments , i understood that it was not easy for me to replicate the problem because it seemed to be a operating system issue and in my parent laptop ,it didn't seem a good idea to virtualise (create a seperate system for this version of windows XP),so i virtualised my other laptop and yes the bug did came in service pack 2 , .Basically the VB coding done vide modules used to generate the Extended mark up document don't compile properly with versions of windows XP OS lesser than service pack 3 version...so people using windows XP service pack 2 might face this problem ,because when i installed windows XP service pack 2 in one of my 5 laptops , i got the same error ,Firstly pressing alt +F11 opens up the visual basic editor which shows the module which the developer has coded for the excel workbook to work and generate the XML ,Since clicking the XML throws up this error , it can be presumed that the OS with which it does has some compatibility issue ,next would be be to download a patch which enhances XML generation across such bugging operating systems ,So ,being a developer i understood , that the solution then lies in enhancing the XML capacity of the OS and so my search on google for XML enhancing patches for Op
