following error after opening any office program(s), such as; Word, Excel, Outlook.... MS Visual basic error: Compile error in hidden module: autoexec Checked the KB from MS: MS blames Symantec https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/307410 - Symantec blames Adobe - none of the above has a fix.. I've reinstalled Office XP already.. Help ((( alexenjen, Dec 18, 2003 #1 Sponsor Anne Troy Anne Joined: Feb 14, 1999 Messages: 11,744 A VB error does not necessarily (and usually isn't) a virus. Hit Start-Search and find "Startup" You'll likely get lots o' returns. You want the FOLDER https://forums.techguy.org/threads/office-xp-compile-error-in-hidden-module-autoexec.188285/ called Startup that resides under you MS Office folder. Double-click it. In it, you likely find blahpdfmakerblah.dot, blahpdfmakerblah.xlt or something like that. Just remove them. Some of these programs, in this case likely you've installed Adobe Acrobat full version, think they're so damn important. Geesh! Are you sure it's happening in ALL Office apps? Or just Word and Excel? Go to Tools-Templates and addins in Word. Anything there in the bigger box? Go to Tools-Addins in Excel. Anything checked there besides (perhaps) Analysis Toolpak? Anne Troy, Dec 18, 2003 #4 alexenjen Thread Starter Joined: Aug 3, 2000 Messages: 526 nothing in the "Add-Ins" & yes..show hidden files.. I changed the .dot files in the "Startup" foder to .old now the error has stoped on Word, but it's sti

Reason MathType includes an add-in for Microsoft Word compile error in which adds the MathType menu and toolbar/ribbon to Microsoft Word. This add-in contains macros written in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), the macro language used by Microsoft Word. The add-in is placed in Microsoft Word's designated Startup folder. AutoExec is the macro that Microsoft Word automatically executes when launching. MTLib is a library of MathType macros used by the toolbar/tab and MathType menu in Microsoft Word. If there is a problem with your computer's VBA environment, when you launch Microsoft Word, you may receive error messages. Solution To correct this problem, you need to make sure that Microsoft Office components upon which the MathType Commands for Word rely are functioning correctly. You should follow the instructions that we provide for resolving issues using the MathType Commands for Microsoft Word. After the error box comes and I click 'OK', i can still use the programs fine. I'm working on XP Professional SP1. That should most likely fix the problem. 0 Discussion Starter Thinka 40 10 Years Ago I did try reinstalling Office, but no joy. That link you gave WlkingMan seemed to be talking about some really complicated stuff, i mean more complex than my sudden problem, because for a start I don't use MathType. Thanks though. Oh can't anybody, ANYBODY help me out here?! The error is so annoying cos it loks harmless, yet could possible develop into something bigger. 0 llopez704 10 Years Ago The errors are usually caused by an Adobe plugin. If you go to the XLStart folder in your profile (C:\Documents and Settings\"your login"\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLStart) and move the PDFMaker.xla out into the Excel folder, the errors will go away. 0 Davidasmithpe 5 Years Ago I have the same problem except it is only with Excel 2003. I installed MS Office 2003 Professional on my Windows 7 Professional NetBook. I have looked all over for xlstart, start, pdfmaker and have not been able to find it. What I did find was that inside Excel under the Macro, Visual Basic Editor there is a visual basic code with a + call
