While installing NRPE, when i execute (/home/abc/nrpe/configure) ./configure it stops after reaching the following line ... checking for type of socket size... size_t checking for SSL headers... SSL headers found in /usr checking for SSL libraries... configure: error: Cannot find ssl libraries I have installed libssl-dev and openssl package as i found them as a solution for this error. I tried the following option also ./configure --with-ssl=/usr/bin/openssl --with-ssl-lib=/usr/lib But the error remains. What can be the possible solution for this ? I am using ubuntu 12.04 as my operating system. I end up with the installation of the older version of nrpe and that worked for me. –ankurtr May 11 '12 at 19:54 This worked! Thanks. For future reference, in what docs did you find those configure --with options? –WAF Feb 18 '15 at 12:56 I had to combine this with another answer, and install libssl-dev first. s

on October 24, 2012 by cyruslab I have encountered the following error while configuring the nrpe plugin: checking for SSL headers... You cannot remove OpenSSL from a program uses it, the same way you couldn't remove random engine parts from a car. The OpenSSL library is usually already installed, but you have to install the header files. Depending on your Linux distribution, you'll need these packages: Red Hat, Fedora, CentOS - openssl-devel Debian, Ubuntu - libssl-dev Arch - openssl Technically one could replace OpenSSL with, say, NSS, but that's not the point here. share|improve this answer answered Dec 27 '11 at 10:41 grawity 156k17288377 1 thanks a lot, i installed header by yum install openssl-devel –P K Dec 27 '11 at 11:00 Ah makes sense now. This is needed for wget to ./configure with ssl as well. –dhaupin Jul 12 at 18:48 add a comment| up vote 4 down vote No, it isn't. You can still compile nodejs with ./configure --without-ssl share|improve this answer edited Oct 7 '14 at 18:55 Kevin Panko 4,949113144 answered Jun 15 '12 at 6:23 grigoris 411 add a comment| up vote 3 down vote debian: apt-get install libssl-dev apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r) share|improve this answer edited Oct 7 '14 at 18:56 Kevin Panko 4,949113144 answer
