Configure Error No Opengl Library Could Be Found
Makefile in 5.0beta3 seems to work in parallel for the most part, except for the install target. When run with make -j4, the Makefile attempts to copy files into the $(prefix)/$(productID) directory before that directory has been created. Fixing this would allow builds to run much faster on multi-core machines. 5 Sep 2014, 12:26am Reply freem retired/ex-dev Posts: 93 Joined: Oct 2013 I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 amd64. I got through autogen.sh and configure, but make dies at various points with these errors: error: ‘SOUND_PCM_WRITE_RATE_is_obsolet_use_SNDCTL_DSP_SPEED_instead’ was not declared in this scope I've made a note of this one on the bugtracker. Based on the commentary, it should be fixed soon-ish. (errors in test suite) There are more compile errors in the test suite, but I gave up chasing them down. The test suite hasn't been touched for years at this point; I doubt anything in there works properly. It's probably best to ignore it for now. 5 Sep 2014, 1:15am Reply GothSpark Posts: 1 Joined: Sep 2014 Hi, i seams to have problems compiling under Ubuntu gnome, i am stuck at the configure part because i apparently have not lib for opengl *did install the dependency from the wiki linked in the tread* here is the error: checking for GL/gl.h... yes checking for glBegin(GL_POINTS) in GL using GL/gl.h... no checking for glBegin(GL_POINTS) in opengl32 using GL/gl.h... no configure: error: "No usable OpenGL library found." i am using an intel graphic card ( yes i am on a laptop) what are the other librairie needed ? thank's 14 Sep 2014, 7:45am Reply gwaland Posts: 17 Joined: Jul 2014 Hi, i seams to have problems compiling under Ubuntu gnome, i am stuck at the configure part because i apparently have not lib for opengl *did install the dependency from the wiki linked in the tread* here is the error: checking for GL/gl.h... yes checking for glBegin(GL_POINTS) in GL using GL/gl.h... no checking for glBegin(GL_POINTS) in opengl32 using GL/gl.h... no configure: error: "No usable OpenGL library found." i am using an intel graphic card ( yes i am on a laptop) what are the other librairie needed ? thank's At first glance it looks like you don't have the mesa-common-dev packages installed. This was the bare minimum package set I found that would let me compile without issue on ubuntu 14.04. mesa-common-dev libglu1-mesa-dev libxtst-dev libxrandr-dev libpng12-dev libjpeg8-dev zlib1g-dev libbz2-dev libogg-dev libvorbis-dev libc6-dev yasm libasound-dev libpulse-dev l

assumes that you already have a compilation environment set up. Before asking for help, look at the Troubleshooting hints to localize the problem rather than asking a meaningless question like It doesn't work. http://www.prinmath.com/csci5229/misc/install.html Linux OpenGL support is very easy to enable on current Linux distributions. For distributions derived from RedHat Linux, the libraries and header files are installed using the command yum install freeglut-devel Since GLUT depends on OpenGL and a number of other libraries, installing GLUT will trigger the dependencies needed to install everything else. For distributions derived from Debian such as Ubuntu, the installation command is apt-get install freeglut3-dev To compile configure error and link your program on Ubuntu 14 based distros you need to explicitly grab every library using gcc -o foo foo.c -lglut -lGLU -lGL -lm I recommend that you use this full version even if not required on your system. Older distributions may put the files in /usr/X11R6, in which case you need to add -I and -L flags to pick up the header files and libraries. Once installed, run the configure error no glxinfo program and look for direct rendering in the output. If the result is YES, then hardware support for OpenGL is working. If it is NO, some things are done in software and you may take a performance hit. Depending on your hardware, you may want to work on your X server. Specifically, the nVidia and AMD/ATI web sites contains updated drivers that result in improved performance over the stock Xorg drivers. The compiz window manager (which is an OpenGL window manager) makes applications which use glutIdleFunc() run jerky unless you enable VSync. This seems to be an issue especially with newer Ubuntu installs. OS/X The OS/X Darwin environment is based on OpenGL. Therefore any compilation environment for OS/X should already support compiling OpenGL programs. To compile and link your program using the Apple SDK requires gcc -o foo foo.c -framework GLUT -framework OpenGL Note that under OS/X, the GLUT header files are in the subdirectory GLUT rather than the GL subdirectory. The following code works on OSX and Linux #ifdef __APPLE__ #include
