Spotted BIG Mistake! The part when u select the first access point , there is a WEP security! Then after u chose a connection, there is a part of: WLAN Security Setting None Wep WPA-PSK(TKIP) WPA-PSK(AES) right? U should chose the second one, cause ur first connection has security!! The WEP one OK! But u must enter ur security code......figure it out! Megaman17, Jan 8, 2007 #5 amirt Guest I did put in the WEP KEY after and before the video but i get the same message. Psp Won't Connect To Access Point
Edited Sep 30, 2013 So I woke up 5 days ago and couln't connect to the internet and kept getting "access point not detected.' I connect the ethernet cord directly into the http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/a-connection-error-has-occurred-the-access-point-was-not-detected.518209/ modem and get the message that there is not ethernet cord connected. I reset my modem, bought a new router(needed one anyways) and reset my ps3 and still "no access point detected." Going to the connection settings for wireless I select easy, scan and get no results despite the fact that I live in an apartment complex and there are at least 5 people around me http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Network-Support/quot-Access-point-not-detected-quot/td-p/41730567 that I can pick a signal up from.If I take my ps3 to a friends house I have no problem connecting to the internet via router or ethernet. I bring his ps3 to my place and get the same results of no access point detected.Cable company says there is nothing wrong. Playstation has no clue. Router company can't help much either. What is blocking me from connecting to the internet via my ps3? I have no problem connecting my laptop and phone but no go for my ps3.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Solved! Go to Solution. Dave Taylor / iPod and MP3 Player Help / 50 Comments Dave, I follow all your steps on how to get to the Internet on my PSP, but every time I try it says no access point detected. What does http://www.askdavetaylor.com/no_access_points_detected_on_my_sony_psp/ that mean, and how do I solve it?? This is another on the list of surprisingly common questions that I get in my mailbox, and I think that much of the problem is simply that people aren’t entirely clear how the Sony http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/26411/how-to-access-wifi-connection-in-psp PSP connects to the Internet. Here’s the scoop: The PSP uses wireless “wifi” — also known as 802.11b — networking for its connectivity. Wifi networks have a maximum range of a few thousand feet, so if your pal at the end of connection error the street has a wireless network installed, you won’t be able to see it in your own home. If you’re in an office and your geek colleagues have an 802.11b network a few floors below you, again, you won’t be able to see it. Now what does “see it” mean? It means that your Sony PSP detects the network and can access it. So when you see “no access points detected” it means that there are no wireless wifi networks within range of your connection error has PSP. How do you solve it? Well, you can move to somewhere else where there is a wireless network, like a public library, buddy’s house or Internet-enabled café, or you can build your own wireless network by purchasing a wireless base station (also known as an “access point”, which is what the error message is about in the first place). If you opt for the latter solution, you’ll probably have to purchase $40-$50 worth of hardware and do some fiddling to get it to work. Make sure you get an 802.11 b-capable device: If you only get one that speaks 802.11g then you’ll be out of luck getting it to work with the Sony PSP itself. My PSP can scan this wifi connection but when it tries to connect it says A connection error has occurred. Check the security settings for the network and try again. I googled it and found that there are lots of guys facing the exact same problem, but could not found the solution. I tried everything but of no avail. At present i run my router @ 54mbps as suggested by few forums, and using no security. P.S. Using this router i can access the wifi connection on my Desire S, psp wifi share|improve this question asked Jul 19 '11 at 17:28 Rakesh Juyal 2042823 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote What type of encryption do you have on your router? PSPs may not support newer encryption protocols (WPA2). If use an older protocol like WEP or WPA, you may have better luck. Edit After some quick googling, I found this article which may provide some insight. It seems WPA2/AES doesn't work, but you can use WPA2/TKIP-AES. Check your router's administration settings and you should find an option to change this. share|improve this answer answered Jul 19 '11 at 21:40 Dave McClelland 12.2k1969116 ah! this is not working :( –Rakesh Juyal Jul 24 '11 at 6:50 He said he is running no security. –Resorath Jul 24 '11 at 8:27 add a comment| up vote 2 down vote You mentioned that you're running it at 54mbps which is the 802.11g (note the "g") standard. According to this, the PSP only supports 802.11b. So, you'll have to go into the configuration of your router and change it to 802.11b or, if it sup
