Connection Error Microsoft Activesync Cannot Open The Com Port
can get it to work but after I shutdown and start backup I get this Connection Error "Microsoft ActiveSync cannot open the COM port. To try setting up the connection again, click OK and follow the on-screen instructions. What the heck? Why is this happening to me? Why is this happening to me? Hi Jake, I have setup 2 user logins (work and personal) on my PC. I have noticed this error message (followed by two other messages) whenever I have synced my PDA on work login and switch (I am not login off from work) to my personal login on my computer. Here the logical cause is that the COM port is blocked by my other login. I think the COM port that ActiveSync is using in your case is getting blocked by some other application upon startup hence the error. Have you tried reassigning the COM port ? Refer to section that deals with reassigning COM ports on the following page --- http://members.fortunecity.com/rajpillai/MSTBluetooth.html I hope it helps solve your problem. -- Regards, Raj Raj Pillai, Sep 9, 2004 #2 Advertisements Jake Guest >-----Original Message----- > >"Jake" <> wrote in message >news:011301c49695$6ae3e430$... >> OK I am ActiveSyncing my PPC over Bluetooth and I can get >> it to work but after I shutdown and start backup I get >> this Connection Error "Microsoft ActiveSync cannot open >> the COM port. >> >> To try setting up the connection again, click OK and >> follow the on-screen instructions. >> >> What the heck? I've had a T-Mobile MDA for a couple months now, and the biggest headache I've had has been this problem. When I start or wake up my laptop and the Bluetooth dongle isn't connected, I will get the problem described here: http://www.mydigitallife.us/2006/08/activesync_my_r.html I've tried http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/246976-microsoft-activesync-cannot-open-the-com-port/ that program that toggles Activesync on and off at startup, but that's more trouble than it's worth, since it doesn't really save many clicks and keystrokes. Is there another way around this? Thanks!
 notaliberal 0 What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow? 420 Devices:T-Mobile Shadow Posted October 4, 2006 Have you tried taking it out of the startup routine with msconfig? Click Start -> Run and type msconfig Now click on the last tab to the right, and look for wcescomm. Uncheck that, close out msconfig, and restart when prompted. Now activesync wont start automatically and therefore won't give oyu that error. Oh, and when you reboot, make sure to check the box in the dialog window that pops up saying stuff like "you have used the system configuration utility to make changes to the way windows starts....." - otherwise it'll open msconfig again. Hope that helps, haven't tried. Good luck,
 Alcoholocaust 0 Newbie Members 0 2 posts Devices:T-Mobile MDA Posted Octobe
