When I change to BROKER_URL = 'redis://localhost:6379/0' (in the django settings.py) and stop rabbitmq I get the error below. If I start rabbitmq again (still with the config set to a redis broker) I can add tasks to the queue (rabbitmq is used as the broker). I assume that if I set rabbitmq to use a different host/port that wouldn't work either. I've even tried taking django out of the equation by specifying the broker directly eg in celery.py (without the config_from_object call) app = Celery('my_proj', broker='redis://localhost:6379/0') I can't get celery to use anything but the default broker settings which makes me suspect that they're not being picked up properly (or am I missing something stupid?).
