So first here is the error specifically given: A boolean is required here. Details: errorKind Error in File CPTCharges {FD775771-FD54-40B1-891A-87AFD9539789}.rpt: Error in formula CPTCodes: 'if {CPTCodes.Day} = "0" Then ' http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19967042/crystal-reports-error-boolean-required-errorkind A boolean is required here. Details: errorKind The report has a few formula fields. The one that it is specifically referring to is: if {CPTCodes.Day} = "0" Then if {CPTCodes.D0} = "1" Then {CPTCodes.CPTID} else "" else if {CPTCodes.Day} = "3" Then if {CPTCodes.D3} = "1" Then {CPTCodes.CPTID} else "" else if {CPTCodes.Day} = "4" Then if {CPTCodes.D4} = "1" Then {CPTCodes.CPTID} else "" else if {CPTCodes.Day} = "5" Then if {CPTCodes.D5} = "1" Then {CPTCodes.CPTID} else "" else if {CPTCodes.Day} = "6" Then if {CPTCodes.D6} = "1" Then {CPTCodes.CPTID} else "" else if {CPTCodes.Day} = "FET" Then if {CPTCodes.FET} = "1" Then {CPTCodes.CPTID} else ""; {CPTCodes.Day} returns either 0,3,4,5,6,FET. Each corresponding {CPTCodes.?} will either be a 1 or a 0. {CPTCodes.CPTID} is a code given from the database corresponding to a procedure that we are charging for. All this information is being sent in correctly from the previous page. Originally I tried doing a simple switch, but since that wasnt working I tried nested if statements. That doesn't seem to be working. Things Ive tried that ive seen answers for online that hasn't worked: 1) Checked the return type of the dataset incase there was a discrep

Where are you putting this formula? If it's anywhere in a conditional formatting formula, the result has to be True/False. 0 LVL 1 Overall: Level 1 Message Author Comment by:Gerhardpet2010-10-14 I'm pretty new to Crystal so can you tell what the formula should look like? It is not in a conditional formatting formula. 0 LVL 12 Overall: Level 12 Crystal Reports 12 Message Expert Comment by:JayConverse2010-10-14 Is that the whole formula? If not, show the whole thing. My point is if the upper part is True/False, the lower part can't be a string. 0 LVL 1 Overall: Level 1 Message Author Comment by:Gerhardpet2010-10-14 That is the whole formula 0 LVL 12 Overall: Level 12 Crystal Reports 12 Message Accepted Solution by:JayConverse2010-10-14 Duh, too much coffee today for me... copy of a finished Crystal Report to make minor formatting changes. In one of the formulas, a SQL Server bit data type field is used. The original report has no errors when executing Table.Field<>0 The copied report screams out this error: "A boolean is required here." at Table.Field<>0 I can replace the '0' with a 'True' and it executes with no errors! The original report I need a '1' or '0' and the copied report I need a 'True' or 'False' !!!!! I checked the Options on both reports for Boolean Data types and they are both set the same. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! -Carol Sun, 01 Dec 2002 03:00:00 GMT Paul Littl#2 / 4 Stumped on 'A boolean is required here' Carol, I can't explain why you are getting different behavior in the two reports. I assume they are using the same database driver..?? Why can't you just use the True/False constants? -- Paul Little, Senior Programmer/Analyst SVi Retail Systems San Diego, CA Quote:> This has stumped me.... > I made a copy of a finished crystal report to make minor formatting changes. > In one of the formulas, a SQL Server bit data type field is used. > The original report has no errors when executing > Table.Field<>0 > The copied report screams out this error: "A boolean is required here." at > Table.Field<>0 > I can replace the '0' with a 'True' and it executes with no errors! > The original report I need a '1' or '0' and the copied report I need a > 'True' or 'False' !!!!! > I checked the Options on both reports for Boolean Data types and they are > both set the same. > Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! > -Carol Sun, 01 Dec 2002 03:00:00 GMT Caro#3 / 4 Stumped on 'A boolean is required here' Hi Paul! This is very bizarre! I tried changing the ORIGINAL report to 'True/False' constants and I received 'A boolean is required here', so I had to change it back to '1' and it accepted it. I am
