The first http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=392334 thing that you will need to do is to check your VPN IP address and then take a look at the VPN username and password to make sure they are correct. 2. Enable router and firewall settings from PPTP and VPN connection. 3. Open or enable PPTP and VPN TCP Port 1723 and protocol 47 for VPN connection. 4. Go to VPN Properties and in Security tab, change connection type VPN to Point to Point Tunneling (PPTP). 5. If after trying the solution we presented the error persists, you may need to get in touch with your VPN provider, or take some initial troubleshooting steps yourself, such as rebooting, un-installing and re-installing the VPN application. However, if these continue to fail, your provider may have the neccessarily tutorials and support for the specific application it is happening on. If the problem seems to be different, it would be best to fully test the VPN connection for security as well, and report your findings to your provider. Put Zyxel in bridge mode (following Embarq tech's instructions). However, I receive an 800 error when trying to connect to the VPN server. As I can look at the RRAS logs, I know that no VPN requests are reaching it. Also a port scan demonstrates that that the VPN port (1723) isn't open at all. That same port scan does show that my FTP & HTTP ports are open.I've config'd VPN via DD-WRT before and followed those same steps, but I appear to be missing something crucial.
