Are you using the internal PPTP server on the router or is it a separate box? If you're using the internal PPTP server, turn off port forwarding. It's not needed and it's probably what's messing you up.___________________________________________ Buffalo WZR-600DHP2 DD-WRT v3.0 STD 29519 Buffalo WZR-600DHP DD-WRT v3.0 STD 29519 Linksys WRT300N DD-WRT v3.0 VPN 29519 Back to top ShimiDD-WRT NoviceJoined: 09 Apr

I'm getting error code 807 when attempting to connect via VPN from off site.It works fine for Windows XP so I know it's a settings issue. I'm using a direct connection to the internet (no router / etc.) and all my firewall permissions are turned off.I scoured the net looking for a fix to no avail. I even did my typical fixes (reboot the router remotely / verify the username / password on the services tab / re-apply the settings / etc.)Any ideas / assistance?Thx. · actions · 2009-Dec-1 3:39 pm · prestonlewisPremium Memberjoin:2003-04-13Sacramento, CA prestonlewis Premium Member 2009-Dec-2 1:51 am Try turning the firewall off in your services.msc program.Turn it off and try your VPN. Router forwards incoming VPN traffic to the correct LAN address. This setup has worked flawlessly since we started with Comcast 3 years ago. No recent changes to the VPN server or router. In the last week or so we can no longer complete a VPN connected into the office. The intial connection request is sent to the VPN machine and the client side gets to the 'verifying username & password' step and then gets either MS error 806 or 807...I think both have to do with GRE being blocked or interrupted. I've rebooted all equipment and tested the VPN machine from the LAN and all works as it should. I've also verified that no settings have changed in the router. I can only point to the gateway or other Comcast equipment. I know VPN is not purposely blocked, but is there something Comcast can check on their end to verify nothing is out of whack? 0 Kudos All Forum Topics Previous Topic Next Topic 1 REPLY VBSSP-RICH Trusted Forum Contributor Options Mark as New Bookmark Subscribe Subscribe to RSS Feed Highlight Accept as Solution Print Email to a Friend Report Inappropriate Content 12-09-2014 08:30 AM 12-09-2014 08:30 AM Re: PPTP VPN returning GRE error (806 & 807) Hello PLMC and welcome,Please let us know which Comcast Gateway (CG) you are using? Is your IPV6 settings in your CG enabled and correct and is your current VPN server/router able to handle IPV6?CGs are now running a dual IPV4 and IPV6 stack and depending how your CG initializes will determinehow your routing to you network equipment and applications is processed. If you can go intothe CG feature settings you can see if one or both stacks are enabled.Hope this helps you out and look forward to hearing from you. 0 Kudos Accept as Solution New Solutions Subject Author Suddenly lost half my upload speed recently 100/20...
