The following error occurs when trying to play movies or Live TV in Windows XP Media Center 2005 Edition: Decoder Error: The video decoder has either malfunctioned or is not installed. Please restart the Media Center and/or the computer. This issue occurs if the WinDVD decoder becomes unregistered or corrupted. To resolve the error, uninstall and reinstall Intervideo WinDVD Player software as follows: Click Start, and then Control Panel. Double-click Add or Remove Programs. Select the Intervideo WinDVD Player software. Click the Remove or Change/Remove button. Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the Intervideo WinDVD Player software and then restart the system. After the PC restarts, reinstall WinDVD
