had installed some codecs when I was playing with VirtualDub because I got this error: The video decoder is not working, is not installed, or is not supported. Try installing the codec http://dustindavis.me/windows-7-media-center-decoder-error/ or restarting your computer. For more information about codecs, see Windows Help. So I crawled around the Internet a bit and found this post. What? The error was very similar, but not quite the same, but I thought https://mymce.wordpress.com/2006/07/18/decoder-error-the-video-decoder-has-either-malfunctioned-or-is-not-installed/ I'd would try the recommended solution of setting my system clock back. Go figure, it worked! This is stupid though because what good is it going to do me with my system clock set back? The Guide decoder error is based on your system clock, so obviously the channel listings are not going to be right. Well, I'm certainly glad I didn't update my media center pc to Windows 7! If anyone has a solution to get this working properly, I'd love to know! *UPDATE* I found a solution to my problem here. google facebook twitter i Technology ← Previous PostDjango: Login Form on Every Page Next Post →Windows Live Writer WordPress Fix windows media center Parksie Cheers, This fixed my issue also. Albert@Windows 7 Do you know if this problem has been fixed in the RC? whitey@IP PBX thank you, i did the same and it worked Rod Hi I have the same error and the Thread you mentioned on the Big Green Button is gone. Would you be able to tell me the magic fix that you found on the other site. I'm going on 3 weeks now to get Media Center to work on my computer. I'm missing it.. Thanks Paul@fix computer errors 🙂 It's the most funniest method to make your Media Center to work, but setting yours system clock back is not the cure only for this kind of error. You can delay yours computer shutdown if it is infected with the "countdown" virus, you can reestablish the connection with your router if you forgot the password not to mention the "unlimited" usage of a trial product.;-P By the way what is the *updated* solution? The thread on "The Green Button" is no longer exists and I am very curious. Rod Actually setting the system back seems to do nothing for my PC. I love windows 7 best OS from MS ever. But why oh why do they keep screwing with media center. Why silly countdown on media center… Anyways again.. The o
fresh install of Microsoft Media Center Edition 2005 may not have the necessary CODEC,as a result when you are trying to view Live TV then the Television won't display correctly and you will get the following error:-Decoder Error - The video decoder has either malfunctioned or is not installed. Resolution:- 1]Download the Microsoft Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility .This utility will help you to determine if an MPEG-2 video decoder or, a DVD decoder is installed on your system and whether or not the decoder is compatible with Windows Media Player 10 and Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. 2] Next you download and install compatible video decoder which will allow you to view TV without any prroblem.Nvidia,Cyberlink Power DVD,Win DVD or,Sonic will help.Personally I find Nvidia Pure Video is excellent.Remember you just need the decoder not the full or entire package. Here is a list of compatible decoders:- NVidia PureVideo:- http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder.html Sonic:- http://www.sonic.com/products/Consumer/play.aspx Cyberlink Corp:- http://www.cyberlink.com/ Intervideo Corp.:- http://www.intervideo.com/media_pack/jsp/Product_Profile.jsp?p=DVDXPack *SourceForge :- http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=98765&package_id=105790&release_id=208928 *[The last one is Free] Like this:Like Loading...
