I've created "some" distribution lists and begin struggling when using any of the lists. Every Time when I am sendling to one the list an error message "An unexpected error occurred" pops and the email will not go through. I'd appreciate any comment that could be helped to solve this matter. Thanks Share Flag This conversation is currently closed to new comments. 11 total posts (Page 1 of 2) 01 | 02 Next + Follow this Discussion · | Thread display: Collapse - | Expand + All Answers Collapse - re: Outlook 2007 Distribution List problems by ThumbsUp2 · 9 years ago In reply to OUTLOOK 2007 DISTRIBUTION ... Create a new email and add just one of the distribution lists in the TO field. Click the plus sign next to it and expand all of the names on the list. Look for one or more names that do not underline themselves. That one will be the culprit in the distribution list. Close that email window, open the distribution list and remove the culprit. Save the list. Now, try a new email with that list and see if it goes through. Repeat the process until you've got them all working. 0Votes Share Flag Collapse - Outlook 2007 distribution list issue by noels0ma13 · 8 years ago In reply to re: Outlook 2007 Distribu ... Join Now Hello everyone, One of distribution list our users currently has a problem with a couple of his distribution lists. He created these distribution lists by himself in his own Outlook mailbox. He did this by going to "Contacts", create a new folder and then create a "New contact group". He added users into these distribution lists. When he opens the distribution list and he clicks: "Email", he can send the email just fine. He can also expand the distribution an unexpected error list to show all of the users in there. When he starts a new email by going to "Mail" and then select "New Email", he is not able to send the email. Neither can he expand the distribution list. He gets the error message: "cannot perform the requested operation. the command selected is not valid for this recipient. The Operation failed". Open a new email and begin typing the group name until you see it suggested in the drop-down. Then click the X to delete the autocomplete entry. Then either finish typing the group name and hit Check Names to link it, or add it in from the address book by clicking on the To button. You'll now be able to send the email. 4 Cayenne OP Gregory for Microsoft May 27, 2016 at 3:27 UTC Brand Representative for Microsoft Cyali is correct you might consider either deleting
Outlook 2003, Windows XP (SP1 & SP2) When trying to send to an Outlook 2003 distribution list (located on a public folder) I receive the following error: "Unknown Error". When trying to expand and view the contents of an Outlook 2003 distribution list (by clicking the " + " to expand) I receive the following error: "Cannot perform the requested operation. The command selected is not valid for this recipient. Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid." The problems run hand-in-hand as I am able to send if the list expands fine. It also is very sporadic as I can click and get the error, close the error window, click again and it works just fine. Additional Notes: My Outlook 2000 clients have no problems. It isn't just one particular distribution list.
