Normally, a malfunction like this is a chance for me to dip into the savings for an upgrade, but the error had a hardware fix that I wanted to try out. First of all, I'm not a hardware guy. It's a refrain that I've often expressed throughout my computer career. I'm a software guy. Bits and bytes. Higher level languages. I didn't take apart a computer until after college (whereas most hardware buffs and DIY PC-people tinker with stuff in high school). It's not that this stuff is alien to me. Since college I've replaced hard drives, memory, and I have installed PC cards. It's just that the assembly of modern PCs and electronics, while fascinating, is not that compelling to me as a day job. position of the laser and it clicked and then the dvd spun as normal and works fine now ... It's all the way to the right to start with. When I do get it to "click" it goes to the middle of its track on the next try and stops. Still getting the H03 message. Should you still need assistance...Initially, on the query "...portable DVD Panasonic LS80...error code H03...tell me what the problem..."; H03 indicates that the built-in diagnostics has sensed that the traverse motor/mechanism is not operational. The traverse assembly is responsible for the sliding movement of the carriage. The carriage is the "bed" where the laser/optical pickup is mounted on.Offhand, the prescribed approach is to open up the Panasonic and replace the traverse deck assembly.Options then are: consider a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair if and only if comfortable working with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVM/VOM, a soldering iron/station and safe practices with electrically powered devices. Access to a Service Manual or at the very least, a schematic diagram would be a necessity;should you be uncomfortable with a DIY, perhaps your best bet would then be to consult with and/or seek the services of an auth
