3 while getting some work done. By mistake I ended up hitting the "title" button and was greeted with the following error message. "DVD Player encountered a system error, -69889″ After doing some google'ing mplayerx and some Apple - Support - Discussions searches this thread was all I could vlc player mac find regarding that error.Personally I don't think it's an issue with my DVD drive. VLC was able to play my DVD fine. Moreover I tried rebooting and deleting the file com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist in ~/Library/Preferences. My disk was also clean.Anybody else have any ideas? I'll post a screen shot when I get a chance of the error and if https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5420964?tstart=0 I find a solution I'll post it also. UPDATE: Today I came home and installed some software and ended up doing another reboot thus clearing up this issue. Hopefully this issue was just a one shot deal but I would consider this a resolved issue. In this article, I will show you how to immediately stream DVDs to your Apple TV with the help of AirPlay Mirroring. The problem with DVDs and Apple TV Many people have a lot of DVDs (technically, the specification is called DVD-Video). You probably know the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders with the VOB files. The problem is: This format is not compatible with your Apple TV and can’t be streamed directly via AirPlay. So you have to re-encode it first (for instance with Handbrake, an open source video transcoder). The Drawbacks are obvious: Beside the legal issues (possibly breaking DRM) you can’t start immediately to watch because the re-encoding takes some time, needs software & know-how and eventually some space on your hard disc. Playing DVDs with AirPlay Mac with DVD drive Here’s my hardware. Just a common Macbook Pro with the Superdrive (an external USB CD/DVD drive). But you can use any another Mac with DVD drive, as long as it is compatible with AirPlay Mirroring (Mac requirements for AirPlay Mirroring). Apple DVD Player Software won’t work The first thing that comes into your mind is probably using the DVD Player Software that usually opens when you insert a DVD. But this won’t

I got the error code 70014 and did some research on it, but the only fixes I found where those for Mountain Lion. Since I don't wanna screw up my whole system, I'd like to know if anyone else experienced this issue in Mavericks and if the Mountain Lion fix will do the trick in Mavericks as well. I tried one thing with a patched DVDPlayback.framework but it didn't help. Is there any solution for me? Thanks in advance. It is not the same type of error as seen in previous posts (70012) so those fixes are not the cure. If I come across a fix, I'll be sure to post. Meanwhile, I'll just keep looking for a solution.
