Booted from external disk, started disk warrior and repaired directory. Then run disk utility and repaired permission. Upon reboot from Mac HD, DVD was working again.Worth giving it a try. When I open Front Row, as you suggest, I can play the DVD using keyboard controls, but I have no mouse function. Is that normal? The error 69902 is a warning error that the DVD player is unable to skip over "damaged" sections of the DVD. The most likely answer is that the Optical Drive is beginning to fail. In my estimation from personal experience, the internal optical drives in mac laptops and imacs do not have a long life span and become very picky on the disk type and quality over a short period of time. If the mac is still under warranty, you can take the mac to the Apple Store and explain the situation in hopes of a replacement Optical Drive. If you do not have AppleCare and / or the machine is out of warranty, there are fixes.First, I'd suggest playing the DVD through VLC player. This will bypass the OS X warning for skipping damaged sections on the disk. VLC Player is free and available here:h

3 while getting some work done. By mistake I ended up hitting the "title" button and was greeted with the following error message. "DVD Player encountered a system error, -69889″ After doing some google'ing and some Apple - Support - Discussions searches this thread was all I could find regarding that error.Personally I don't think it's an issue with my DVD drive. VLC was able to play my DVD fine. Moreover I tried rebooting and deleting the file com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist in ~/Library/Preferences. My disk was also clean.Anybody else have any ideas? I'll post a screen shot when I get a chance of the error and if I find a solution I'll post it also. UPDATE: Today I came home and installed some software and ended up doing another reboot thus clearing up this issue. Hopefully this issue was just a one shot deal but I would consider this a resolved issue.
