This discussion is locked lvargasf Level 1 (0 points) Q: DVD Player Error -70001 Hi everybodyI was trying to play a DVD I bought today. In order to do that, my Superdrive's regional code had to be changed. When I tried to change zones (last chance to do that, I had already switched it 4 times so this was the last change) an error window popped up. The error said"There has been a problem trying to change the unit's regional code. Error: -70001".Please help! Thanks in advance.MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.8) Posted on Jan 17, 2007 1:32 PM I have this question too by Niel,Solvedanswer Niel Level 10 (313,667 points) Mac OS X A: Insert a DVD which is set to play in only one region; some DVDs will work in some but not all regions, and if you try to change the region with one of those when there's only one change left on the drive, you will get that error message.(19233) Posted on Jan 17, 2007 1:41 PM See the answer in context Close Q: DVD Player Error -70001 All replies Helpful answers by Niel,Solvedanswer Niel Jan 17, 2007 1:41 PM in response to lvargasf Level 10 (313,667 points) Mac OS X Jan 17, 2007 1:41 PM in response to lvargasf Insert a DVD which is set to play in only one region; some DVDs will work in some but not all regions, and if you try to change the region with one of those when there's only one change left on the drive, you will get that error message.(19233) Helpful (2) Reply options Link to this post by lvargasf, lvargasf Jan 17, 2007 6:32 PM in response to lvargasf Level 1 (0 points) Jan 17, 2007 6:32 PM in response to lvargasf You mean trying to play a "zone 4 only" DVD instead of one meant for multiple zones (i.e zone 3, 4 and 6 like the one I was trying to play when the error showed up)? It'll be hard to find one of those around here, but I'll give it a try.Thank you, I'll let you know if this works as soon as I find a zone 4 disk Helpful (1) Reply options Link to this post by Pablo Steffa, Pablo Steffa Mar 4, 2007 11:22 AM in response to Niel Level 1 (35 points) Mar 4, 2007 11:22 AM in response to Niel I had the same problem and this solved it! I was warned I could only change the setting one more time after that. Later I attempted to change the setting back to Region 2 as all my other films are on this region. The warning came up again "this is the last time you can change this setting". That was fine because I had no intention of changing it back to region 1. But as I tried to change the setting it gave me an error message 'error: -70001' What does this mean? I still have one chance to change my settings back according to the system as agreed but it wont let me. What can I do? I havent used up all my chances and yet I now cant watch any of my DVD's. I think I have made a very foolish mistake, as follows; I deleted (and emptied the trash) DVD player, and now I'd like to reinstall it (That's the dvd player system last time I'll be so hasty) I have a dvd player 4.6 update file from apple which I ran on a whim, it said I couldn't update because I had a later version of DVD player. I've also searched spotlight for any trace of dvd player, with none found. I also tried to reinstall dvd player from the OS x install disk, but couldn't find it listed under bundled apps! At the moment I'm using vlc, which is ok, but it's just a matter of preference in wanting dvd player (even quicktime would be ok). Am I doomed to live without DVD Player? Or is there an avenue I haven't explored? p.s bring on time machine! p.p.s is there any way of playing a dvd through quicktime without having to open the ifo files? i.e. simply? Cheers!
