In the end, it depends if you want https://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120205155310AAURRpm DVD Player to remember where you've left off on the discs you've viewed. Go to: User Library > Application Support > DVD Player. Inside the DVD Player folder is one called Settings. If you don't care whether or not DVD Player remembers where you left off on the discs you've viewed, trash the Settings folder. If you do care, then you need to be a bit more surgical. First, go to File > Get Disc Info in DVD Player while you've got the disc that won't play properly in the drive. Look at where it says 'Settings File' at the bottom of the window. Though there's a 'Reveal' button, it's always grayed out on my system -- but it may work for you. If not, jot down the settings file name, quit DVD Player, then delete the corresponding file from the Settings folder. Either way, whether you've deleted a single settings file or the entire settings folder, your disc should once again be playable." This has only started happening today, I want to watch a DVD on my iMac, and DVD Player wont play it. I've tried different dvd player DVDs and I've also tried playing the movies from Video_TS folders on my HDD, still, it wont play. DVD Player will play a few seconds, then the video and audio will stop and freeze. If I try to click stop, or anything else i get a "Not Permitted" bubble appear, and if I click Pause I get a message "DVD Player has encountered a system error. Error -69889" I've tried totally removing DVD Player, its osx dvd player plist's, and folders and restoring a old versions from Time Machine. Still, nothing works. This also happens in Front Row. UPDATE: VLC does not play the DVDs either. Please help. Heres the link to a short video screencast that shows exactly what happens: http://j0wkcw.blu.livefilestore.com/...1.mov?download Last edited by iryan; 20th April 2009 at 04:24 PM. It shows "Error ~47" when I click on Eject button. Changed some DVD Player settings, such as cleared "Start playing disk" so that no files would be open when I connect the DVD player, but that did't help. Searched Apple website; it has posts by other users about "Error ~47" in various settings, and comments about that being a file error, but no indication on how to fix that. My system: MacBook Pro, Yosemite 10.10.3.
