I http://www.fixya.com/support/t11899871-lg_dvd_player_says_no_disc_every_time get this error message every time. I have tried turning the player on and off for a few minutes. The video works perfectly (it is double function). Even the CD cleaner disc doesn't register in the player. I would be so grateful for your help. The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, from your description the pladder motor is not turning which means the CD'S & DVD'S are not been sampled for playback. The only way to fix this would be to replace the assembly, not cost effective for repair, much cheaper to buy a new player.
