the file com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist in ~/Library/Preferences. My disk was also clean.Anybody else have any ideas? I'll post a screen shot when I get a chance of the error and if I find a solution I'll post it also. UPDATE: Today https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5420964?tstart=0 I came home and installed some software and ended up doing another reboot thus clearing up this issue. Hopefully this issue was just a one shot deal but I would consider this a resolved issue. Alex says: January 15, 2008 at 5:42 pm I found that starting the disk at the beginning (rather than where last played) fixed this problem for me which I am sure is a fluke- The Wire Season 1 disc 1… good luck. rizwan says: October 30, 2008 at 7:52 pm hey i just brought the new apple mac pro and it comes up with the same error what do i do Vegan4Health says: October 18, 2009 at 10:54 am It is definitely not a DVD Drive problem. I have the error on my mac G4 from internal drive AND plugged in an external and same error occurred. Vegan4Health says: October 18, 2009 at 10:55 am the damndest thing is that I played this DVD on my Mac last night, crashed and missed the ending and when I try to play it today it was fine until I tried to restart it and skip the previews. This has only started happening today, I want to watch a DVD on my iMac, and DVD Player wont play it. I've tried different dvd player DVDs and I've also tried playing the movies from Video_TS folders on my HDD, still, it wont play. DVD Player will play a few seconds, then the video and audio will stop and freeze. If I try to click stop, or anything else i get a "Not Permitted" bubble appear, and if I click Pause I get a message "DVD Player has encountered a system error. Error -69889" I've tried totally removing DVD Player, its dvd player encountered plist's, and folders and restoring a old versions from Time Machine. Still, nothing works. This also happens in Front Row. UPDATE: VLC does not play the DVDs either. Please help. Heres the link to a short video screencast that shows exactly what happens: http://j0wkcw.blu.livefilestore.com/...1.mov?download Last edited by iryan; 20th April 2009 at 04:24 PM.
