Hi .Root indicates that the DVD player is set to the Root of the hard disk drive, and for this reason does not display the DVD being played. To get out of this feature you need to press the DVD menu on remote. This is often a button with a disk picture on top or a button with DVD or Disk on it. Sometimes you have to press the Menu button. This depends on the model.I can be more specific on the button to use if you give me info on make and model. Please be patient after posting. Also some model does reset back to TV after disconnecting power cord.Regarding display on TV, if ther is no picture at all, then you may have to set the input source. If DVD is in root mode you should also have an on screen menu from DVD player. A control bar I mean, even with static. If there is nothing, ensure that the source is set to the DVD unit.First get out of root mode, give me model info if the above did not work.Regards.Ginko. I'd have thought you would be much more likely to see this with say an mp3 cd,or a photo cd,rather than a standard shop bought dvd film with proper menu. In other words,i'd expect to see it with a custom home made disc a cd,a usb memory stick,or a dvd. here is someone with the same problem http://club.cdfreaks.com/f116/dvdfab...player-257454/ beintot 13-02-2009, 01:29 #3 i love sky Forum Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Posts: 2,949 Quote: Originally Posted by beintot here is one answer about root http://www.fixya.com/support/t394484...vd_player_root personally if i saw that on my dvd player that is what i'd assume it was referring to.
