If the device is plugged in and still not working, unplug the device and see below for guides on fixing your DVD player. Broken power supply¶ If your power supply is broken, it could be due to a blown fuse. Refer to our guide here for a guide on replacing the power supply and the fuse. Audio and video problems¶ Menu items can't be selected¶ Press the STOP button https://www.ifixit.com/Wiki/Philips_DVP642_Troubleshooting twice before selecting the system menu. Dallas59 Posted on 02/16/2010 7:28:23 PM PST by Dallas59 Have a Philips DVD recorder and DirecTV HD. Been getting ALOT of these errors lately when trying to record certain programs. Have tried using all DVD formats +RW, -RW and so on with no luck. Been having to resort to VHS on some programs. Any ideas? It will only record a few seconds and then stops. I never had this problem until I got the new hd box. 3 posted on 02/16/2010 8:00:52 PM PST by racing fan [ Post Reply | Private Reply | To 1 | View Replies] To: Dallas59 Sounds like a copy protected program. HBO, Showtime, etc. have started adding it, they allow one copy. so if you hav it on the HD, it won't record it to DVD, even externally. Also, the - formats work best for VR mode. I've also had damaged or poor quality media give me an E45. 4 posted on 02/16/2010 8:08:22 PM PST by PeaceBeWithYou (De Oppresso Liber! The RW can often have problems in some DVD recorders where the R will work. This happens with either the +RW or -RW discs. Try using just the recordable (-R or +R) discs and see if it makes a difference. Othewise, you've been screwed by the DRM police. Good luck. Buying a DVR that doesn't have DRM is your only choice. 5 posted on 02/17/2010 9:44:31 AM PST by hadit2here ("Most men would rather die than think.
