Giving Read Errors? Discussion in 'Copy DVD to DVDR' started by J8son, Sep 23, 2012. J8son Member Joined: Apr 26, 2005 Messages: 76 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 16 I'm using DVDFab 8.2.0.0 to rip a new box set I bought. It's 8 seasons with 5

discs per season leaving me about 40 discs to rip. The first season went fine, no problems dvdfab error while reading hunger games at all. The second season I had issues with discs 2 and 3 stopping in the middle due to a read error. The third season did exactly dvdfab error while reading please choose what to do the same thing on disc 4. After that, the rest of the entire box set ripped completely without any issues and no errors. I thought there might be an issue with my DVD drive but I only had that problem on just a few discs.

I also tried using a portable copy of DVD Decryptor on those bad discs and it seems that, after many retries, it was able to rip it successfully. My question is, is it normal for some DVDS to not rip properly because the way they are made? Otherwise it would seem the issue is either with my drive or software and I can't see what those issues would be. Thanks! Points: 128 I had it happen on a brand new Master & Commander disk (which played without problems) I ended up scrubbing it with toothpaste and letting the old DVD Decrypter have at it - successfully. attar, Sep 23, 2012 #2 J8son Member Joined: Apr 26, 2005 Messages: 76 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 16 Was is it, I wonder, about DVD Decrypter that works when other programs like DVDFab does not. The only thing I notice is that DVD Decrypter will retry the same sector over 100+ times till it gets it. Slow but surely. Also, I have not used DVD Decrypter in a while. Was is the best setup? I know there are some additional plug ins that help with the decryption of some of the later protections. Since it hasn't been updated for seven years, any newer protection will fail - although I think most TV episode sets will rip OK. attar, Sep 23, 2012 #4 J8son Member Joined: Apr 26, 2005 Messages: 76 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 16 Thanks for the info. However, I'm still a little stumped. Why would a brand new DVD set, never been opened before, have 3 out of 40 disc give disc read areas during certain VOB files? Whats the significances in these discs that make them different than
whether I pick and choose sections of the movie or I choose 'main film' and error message will come up saying 'error reading' and it gives me the option to 'ignore' or 'ignore all.' I always choose 'ignore all' but dvdfab error 400 then when I go to watch the film there are little split second glitches randomly throughout

Humpa24th July 2007, 00:18clean the dvd It dvdfab error 105 sounds like there is either something wrong with the dvd or the dvd drive. You shouldn't get any errors reading the disc - if you do, you might want to consider returning the disc (that's what I do on the http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/some-discs-giving-read-errors.744427/ rare occasion that I have gotten errors). Unless this happens with all your disc's, of course. denialgal28th July 2007, 04:23it is doing it with every single dvd I back up using dvdfabdecrypter. It says 'error while reading! please choose what to do? retry...abort...ignore...ignore all' and I always choose ignore all. When I do this the film has a little glitch in all the places that there is an error read. Anyone else have further suggestions? setarip_old28th July 2007, 04:39Hi!it is http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-128230.html doing it with every single dvd I back up using dvdfabdecrypter. Are these recently purchased NEW DVDs, recently purchased USED DVDs, or DVDs that you purchased some time ago? I ask this because, other than on rare occasion (bad pressing), NEW DVDs should not create this situation under DVDFab Decrypter - whereas OLD and/or USED DVDs certainly could create this situation. A silly question, perhaps, but I'll ask it anyway: Are you actually using "DVDFab Decrypter" or "DVD Decrypter"? If, in fact, you are using DVDFab Decrypter and are running into this problem with recently purchased NEW DVDs, your DVD reader/burner may be at fault. 1) Try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on it. Maxell makes one that sells for approximately $10US 2) If possible, slow down the read speed 3) Select "Retry" instead of "Ignore all" denialgal17th August 2007, 04:03These would be recently purchased used dvds that are newer films. For example, I bought Stranger than Fiction and had problems with it. I bought Pan's Labrynth and had the same problem with it. I also had the same problem with Happily N'Ever After. I have been using DVDFab decrypter because dvd decrypter will not allow me to actually put the copied files on the disc if I choose to skip a file that it gets stuck on. I will try the cleaning methos, but the discs that I am putting in are not in bad shape at all an

I've run into a problem while using DVDFab Platinum to make a backup copy of a DVD boxset of "The Life of Birds", produced by the BBC. As soon as the app starts the analyzing section of the copy, I get a popup box dvdfab error titled "Reading/Writing Error Control". The text of the box reads "Error while Reading! Please choose what to do?" The box presents four buttons: "Retry", "Abort", "Ignore", "Ignore All" If I select retry, ignore or ignore all, it will fail again. Selecting 'abort' just kills the app. Can anyone provide any help with this? The boxset is a few years old but in excellent condition, no apparent scratches, etc. No problems dvdfab error while watching the program. Thanks in advance, Welcome to to CDFreaks forum, this is indication look like that the video you are trying to copy is protested disc. Since you have the DVDFAB Platinum, you should be OK.
