Giving Read Errors? Discussion in 'Copy DVD to DVDR' started by J8son, Sep 23, 2012. It's 8 seasons with 5 discs per season leaving me about 40 discs to rip. The

first season went fine, no problems at all. The second season I had issues with discs 2 and 3 stopping in the middle due to a read error. The third season did exactly the http://www.dvdfab.cn/manual/settings/Read same thing on disc 4. After that, the rest of the entire box set ripped completely without any issues and no errors. I thought there might be an issue with my DVD drive but I only had that problem on just a few discs. I also tried using a portable copy of DVD Decryptor on those bad discs and it seems that, after many retries, it was http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/some-discs-giving-read-errors.744427/ able to rip it successfully. My question is, is it normal for some DVDS to not rip properly because the way they are made? Otherwise it would seem the issue is either with my drive or software and I can't see what those issues would be. Thanks! The only thing I notice is that DVD Decrypter will retry the same sector over 100+ times till it gets it. Slow but surely. Also, I have not used DVD Decrypter in a while. Was is the best setup? I know there are some additional plug ins that help with the decryption of some of the later protections. J8son, Sep

I've run into a problem while using DVDFab Platinum to make a backup copy http://www.cdrlabs.com/forums/dvdfab-read-errors-t22730.html of a DVD boxset of "The Life of Birds", produced by the BBC. As soon as the app starts the analyzing section of the copy, I get a popup box titled "Reading/Writing Error Control". The text of dvdfab error the box reads "Error while Reading! Please choose what to do?" The box presents four buttons: "Retry", "Abort", "Ignore", "Ignore All" If I select retry, ignore or ignore all, it will fail again. Selecting 'abort' just kills the app. Can anyone provide any help with this? The boxset is a few years old but in excellent condition, no apparent scratches, etc. No problems watching the program. Thanks in advance, Welcome to to CDFreaks forum, this is indication look like that the video you are trying to copy is protested disc. Since you have the DVDFAB Platinum, you should be OK. Make sure: 1) You have enough free space in your hard drive (at least 1.5X size of the DVD you are trying to copy). 2) Defrag you hard drive. 3) Empty you temp files from temp folder.

I was offered the options of 'Retry', 'Abort', 'Ignore' or 'Ignore All'. (the disc was clean) I was able to decrypt the movie but would have to select 'Retry' 5 to 10 times throughout the process and the read speed would be very slow. The read errors occurred for every movie that I decrypted. For testing purposes I put in "Monsters Inc" and it tried it with 3.0.5.0. - read errors occurred. I reverted to version 3.0.2.5 and "Monsteres Inc" decrypted with no problem and no read errors. DVD Drive - Liteon SOHW1693S Firmware KSOB The drive works fine for all other functions including burning the movies that were eventually decrypted. I am going to stick with 3.0.2.5 for the time being, but wondered if anyone else had similar problems? I should have been more clear, Yes it is DVDFab Decrypter. I used DVD Decrypter for the longest time, but ran into a couple of movies with the latest version of Sony copy protection. I screwed around with a couple of different programs that handled the settings for DVD Decrypter and then ended up using DVDFab Decrypter. I am not really up on the best way of backing up DVD's. I had been using DVD Decrypter and an older version of DVD2one for a long time. The 3.0.2.5 version worked for everything that I tried. I only updated to 3.0.5.0 because it was available. When it caused the problems I went back to 3.0.2.5 I googled 3.0.5.0 but nothing jumped out at me indicating anyone else was having problems. I am unsure if the problem is happening to others or if there is something specific to my computer that is getting in the way "All Bi
