(Account 'alan.btinternet.com', SMTP Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Error Number 0x800ccc60.I contacted my ISP who changed my outgoing server in Microsoft Outlook to 'smtp.mail.yahoo.ca' and this allows me to send emails, which would indicate to me that my Microsoft Outlook http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/livemail-email/the-smtp-server-returned-an-error-error-code/826606e3-a3b5-4fb1-960d-6bee68bed470 set up is ok.I am keen to find out why my original setting using the outgoing server 'mail.btinternet.com' suddenly stopped working because I think this may be a problem within my ISP.My ISP insists that the problem is with my Micorsoft outlookAnyone got any ideas or views?Thanx Logged Ben Amada Sr. Member Posts: 812 Karma: +52/-3 Microsoft Outlook error 0x800ccc60 « Reply #1 on: March 12, 2007, 11:38:06 AM » A couple of things to check.1. In https://webservices.thesba.com/forum/index.php?topic=31384.0 Outlook, your User Name should be: alan@btinternet.com -- not just "alan".2. Try changing your SMTP port for that email account to 8889 instead of the standard 25. You'll want to also change your mail server back to mail.btinternet.com when you try this. Presumably, this is because you are already authorised.Microsoft also said that, if you are using outlook 2003, then Outlook 2003 does not perform the aut

I wanted to stay away from a repair, just yet, I'm new to the office and on my own, so I didn't want to quite start ripping into stuff until I have a full grasp on everything they have going on, other apps and all. Thanks for taking a gander at it though! Hopefully someone has had a similar problem and runs across this. cardfan, Feb 26, 2004 #3 AbvAvgUser Joined: Oct 3, 2002 Messages: 2,281 Y

SMTP Error # 0x800ccc60 Microsoft Outlook View First Unread Thread Tools Display Modes 05-02-2008, 01:17 AM #1 JaR Guest Posts: n/a SMTP Error # 0x800ccc60 I've been seaching for days for a solution to this one. I have two users on seperate XP Sp2 computers that can no longer send mail. We have been changing workstation logins and these two were fine until I set up their e-mail in Outlook under the new logon. Then the above error started showing up on one box and 0x800cccoe on the other. The sever settings are correct, and I can set up their account on a different box and it will work fine. I found a discussion about McAfee blocking SMTP traffic in some situations, so I disabled McAfee on one of the computers, to no avail. I went to the extent of installing Thunderbird on one box, and configging it with the user account in question, and it would not work either, so it seems to be a problem with the box itself or with XP rather than with Outlook. I should mention that these two users are the only ones out of several dozen that were changed over with no problems. Well, okay, not with *this* problem ;-) The third-party server that we use for e-mail replies "connect failed" on port 25, even if I telnet from a working box, so I can't tell if that's the issue. Windows firewall is turned of on all boxes, as we are behind a company firewall. I have tried rebuilding the accounts, reinstalling Outlook, and even did a repair re-install of XP on one of the boxes.
