Now that you are back up and running, open a command prompt as admin (right-click "command prompt" - run as administrator) and type this: sfc /scannow [then press enter] If it shows that it found errors and fixed them, good. If it shows that it found errors and could not fix them or could only fix some, reboot and do it again. You may also want to run a different command chkdsk /r [then press enter] it will tell you that the volume is locked and cannot perform the operation and ask you if you want to schedule it at the next reboot. Press 'Y' (for yes) and reboot. Reports: · Posted 3 years ago Top annatude Posts: 7 This post has been reported. Great thank you I'll try it.. you launch Internet Explorer and receive an error message "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close," there areĀ several things you can do to try and fix the problem. Since IE is very integrated with Windows, it's possible a program running in the http://www.pctechbytes.com/windows/error-microsoft-internet-explorer-has-encountered-a-problem-and-needs-to-close/ background is causing it to crash. Or it's possible there is an add-on installed that is http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/488896/internet-explorer-has-encountered-a-problem-continues-popping-up/ causing problems. The following steps should help you troubleshoot the error in IE and resolve any issues you're having. Try To Recreate The Error in IE If you can re-create the error when you do something specific, then this should help determine what is causing the problem with Internet Explorer. For instance, if you launch a website that has a lot of video on it, encountered a you might want to update your flash player. Or if you're clicking on something in your toolbar, try disabling that toolbar in the menu. Internet Explorer 7 and 8 have add-on capabilities similar to Firefox. The add-ons are not necessarily from Microsoft and should be disabled as one of the first steps you take to troubleshoot the "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" error. Disable Add-ons in Internet Explorer To disable add-ons, go to Tools, then has encountered a click the Manage Add-ons link in the menu. You might see several add-ons listed. If you disable all of the add-ons, and the problem continues then the add-ons were not the problem. Upgrade To The Latest Version of IE It's always a good idea to be running the latest version of any browser. There are security patches and feature upgrades released in newer versions of Internet Explorer that help make it more compatible with the Internet. You can visit the IE website to download the latest version of IE. Reset Internet Explorer If you're running IE 7 or IE 8, then you have the ability to reset Internet Explorer.
