Hello guys. I am Frosty! I've been with steam since 2004 and this is my first Thread. Now I normally don't come up with these problems or having trouble finding someone on google who has a steam engine error out of memory solution to a problem like this. But I really got stumped on this one. I've played Portal 2 and beat it in the past and now I want to play it with a friend. http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/85d...m2u54l5m5g.jpg It's been 2 months since I last played it and Portal 2 comes up with this error every time I launch it. It makes it past the Valve Logo and then it gets ready to load engine error out of memory mac the main menu and the it closes the application and pulls that box up. I've tried a number of things to fix this. Theses are the methods I tried to fix it with: 1)verify integrity of game Cache 2)Defragment Cache Files 3)Uninstalled and then re-installed Portal 2 I'm out of ideas for the moment. Hopefully, I get this fixed soon. I just got the Razor Hydra and I wanted to try it out with this game. I loved using it in Left 4 Dead. This should correct the issue. Move Steam If the issue continues and Steam is installed to a location containing letters or symbols not contained in the English alphabet (such as accents), please move your Steam installation to a directory that does not contain these characters, such as C:\Steam. You have at least one leak in your level. The inside of your map isn't properly sealed to the outside ("void"). Load the pointfile in Hammer. A red line that starts at the specified entity will go through the leak at some point. Follow it

Levels created with the Source Engine must be completely internally sealed. No part of the interior of the level, the "world", must connect with the outside, the "Void". Even the sky must be sealed off with a brush using the tools/toolsskybox texture. When there is any kind of gap to the void, a leak is generated when the map is compiled by vbsp. When a leak occurs, the tools cannot know which part of the level is inside, and what part is outside, and vvis cannot be run. If vvis is not run several effects may not work or look right including water and some surface properties like dust puffs. This example shows a map with an obvious gap in the geometry, leading to the void. This will generate a leak error message when it is compiled: A gap in geometry that leads to the void will cause leaks. When a map like this is compiled, with a gap to the void, vbsp generates an error similar to this in the compile log: ProcessBlock_Thread: 0...1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10 (0) **** leaked **** Entity light (-1607.69 -1094.12 -183.00) leaked! With this error message, vbsp is telling you that there has been a leak in the level, and the first entity it found when attempting to get into the level from the void (in this case, a light entity). It also gives you the location of that entity, expressed in X, Y, and Z world unit coordinates. Often the mentioned entity is not the cause of the leak - it's the one that the leak trace originated from. Deleting it will simply make the report mention another entity, it won't solve the problem! There is one situation when deleting an entity does solve the leak: when it's placed outside the playable area. This is covered later in this article. If you have no point entities in your map when you compile it, vbsp may report a leak, because it has no way of deciding whether the interior or exterior of the map is the playable area.. Portal 2 maps will not compile if there is a leak. In Portal 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Alien Swarm, if you have a leak and you skip vvis, the map will not compile the skybox.
