This application is supposed to be hosted with Godaddy. The application connects to MySql as it's backend database and uses http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10673262/metadataexception-schema-specified-is-not-valid entity framework. The application works correctly on Visual Studio. However, when I moved the files to Godaddy, I started having some issues. The application started throwing a MetadataException. I have used Fiddler to tracker the issue. The first WCF request is terminated correctly, however subsequent request fail with header code 500. Throwing the following exception. I would appreciate helping me through this issue as I have tried many solution. I have deleted the EDMX model completely and removed the entry from connection strings in the config file. Then recreated the edmx file from the database again. I have replaced the metadata tag in the connectionString with "metadata="res://*/" with no luck note: I have another Silverlight application hosted on Godaddy which uses MS SQL SERVER that application works correctly. [MetadataException: Schema specified is not valid. with an unsupported type" Visual Studio Development > Visual Studio LightSwitch - General Questions Question 0 Sign in to vote Hi. I just managed to deploy a lightswitch app to https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/c072442a-6713-41cc-8c7a-12c39e913067/published-app-gets-error-0175-and-entity-has-a-property-with-an-unsupported-type?forum=lightswitch a remote iis server. It seems to work fine, until you hit the (external) database: you get the NotFound error. I deployed the app, and called the wcf service: something like this:http://localhost/MyApplication/Web/LightSwitchApplication-Implementation-MyDataDomainService.svc. First I got http://forum.linqpad.net/discussion/59/the-specified-store-provider-cannot-be-found-in-the-configuration-or-is-not-valid this error: "Schema specified is not valid. Errors: MyData.ssdl(2,274) : error 0175: The specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration, or is not valid." But when I then go to the url with entity framework the deployed app, and do something to hit de database (and get NotFound), and reload the .svc url, the message has changed to: "Entity 'MyData.Implementation.tableAdres' has a property 'CountryReference' with an unsupported type." Hu? How can it have an unsupported type, when it was all generated by LightSwitch? But the strangest thing is: the exact same code workes perfectly fine on my local IIS... (I can't get remote deployment to work, entity framework error so I deploy to local IIS, and then hand-copy those published files to the remote server...) I turned on tracing, but I can't find anything usefull in there, like what the real cause of NotFound is... Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!! The remote iis server was talking to a SQL Anywhere db on a different machine. It turned out the wrong version of SQL Anywhere was installed on the iisserver. If you create an Entity Framework model, there is something like providerName="System.Data.EntityClient" in the connectionstring. For an SQL Anywhere dbthis would be providerName="iAnywhere.Data.SQLAnywhere". My guess is that before, it was not able to find the right version of the iAnywhere.Data.SQLAnywhere.dll, since the error 0175 talks about a 'store provider'.
