"An error occured attempting to expand '[Folder name].sit'. The archive may be damaged. Error #17537" (replace [folder name] with the folder's name) I've tried decompressing it onto my desktop and to the Applications folder. I get this message every time. PLEASE HELP #1 Mario8672, Dec 25, 2006 DeltaMac uix_expand uix_collapse Tech Joined: Jun 20, 2001 Messages: 8,380 Likes Received: 67 The Unarchiver is a good utility that seems to be much more stable than the Stuffit software. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/30810 Give that a try. Maybe the file won't expand because it's a corrupted download. Try downloading that same file again. #2 DeltaMac, Dec 25, 2006 Mario8672 uix_expand uix_collapse The Lone Deranger Joined: Oct 24, 2006 Messages: 594 Likes Received: 0 I'm trying "The Unarchiver" now. I've also tried to download the file again, no luck with that. I'll let you know how it extracts with The Unarchiver. #3 Mario8672, Dec 26, 2006 Mari

I figured no big deal, but when I got the same 'Error 1 - Operation Not Permitted' for the second file days later, I http://mac.bigresource.com/OS-X-Cannot-unzip-zip-file-with-anything-IFgLj8zJz.html got mad. I repaired disc permissions and tried again, still the same error. http://www.mactalk.com.au/11/25225-zip-refuses-open.html So I tried with StuffIt and it said "The archive may be damaged (Error #17537)". I downloaded Zipeg and tried both files-it said 'file type not supported'. I tried the Terminal: grant-austins-macbook:~ Grant$ unzip bobbyraynodj.zip unzip: cannot find or open bobbyraynodj.zip, bobbyraynodj.zip.zip or bobbyraynodj.zip.ZIP. Same error for the other file. After all error 1 that, I restarted and tried it all again, and got the same results View 6 Replies Similar Messages: OS X :: How To Unzip And Zip File OS X :: How Do You Unzip A File OS X :: Cannot Unzip / Extract ISO File OS X :: Can't Unzip A Downloaded File Intel Mac :: How Do Unzip A File OS X Mavericks :: How error 17537 stuffit To Unzip A File Intel Mac :: How To Unzip A Downloaded File ITunes For Mac :: How To Successfully Unzip MP3 File MacBook :: How To Unzip Pages File And Convert Into Word Document (Doc / Docx) OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Unzip An App On My Mac? I've tried to open it on the desktop, in Applications and in Documents, but with no luck. A message comes up saying:- Archive Utility, unable to unarchive zip into desktop (or whatever). (Error 1 -- Operation not permitted) It took 28 minutes to download and then gave me that message. Can it be opened or is destined to be trashed? What are the permissions on the file if you click on the item and go apple + i ? Apple + I . and then under ownership and permissions. Your access should be read + write. If it's not then the person who sent the file needs to change it and send it to you again.Or in the locked box is it checked ?Unlock it and send it again or uncheck it yourself. I did as you suggested and it states:- Open with BOMArchiveHelper.app (default) but there is an arrow for Other which opens to Applications. However I gather from the sender that it has to open into a folder before I can drag it into iTunes. Edit: Stewie . . . the locked box isn't ticked so is already unlocked Thinking about what next to think about . . . . . . . . . 24" iMac: 15" iMac G4 "lampshade" 12" Performa 580 Reply With Quote 8th May 2007,12:14 PM #5 hawker Join Date Feb 2004 Posts 6,902 Do you have Stuff It expander ? ht
