Soome applications are well behaved, and will only bind to specific IPs if you configure them so. Others instead will grab any free IP on the server and bind to it no matter what. Posted 4 Years Ago Time Traveler Group: Administrators Last Active: 6 Months Ago Posts: 1.1K, Visits: 1.8K Since there are so many processes that can http://forums.ipswitch.com/Topic62980.aspx access a .mbx file, we temporarily lock them with a .~bx or .mbx.l file. This is so there will be no inconsistency if IMap is trying to read the file when Queue Manager is writing a new message to it. It is possible, and does happen some times, if the file is locked, and the service that locked it is stopped, then restarted, and it never removed the lock file. It is also possible, and we've seen it happen, that an Anti-virus program locks the file because it thinks it is a virus. (You should exclude your IMail spool directory and the user folders from being scanned). Those errors are from the file being locked, and the process that is trying to access it cannot. Also, if you have really big mbx files, > 2GB, it can take some time to rewrite the file if it is being compressed (removing deleted messages from the file) or if one of the services calls for a mbx rewrite.
