I have seen this problem with ZoneAlarm but not with the Windows firewall Disabling the firewall worked for me. It is a "group Policy" setting on this machine and I have not found how and where to the policy to turn it off.... do you know? 0 LVL 8 Overall: Level 8 Networking 4 Message Active 4 days ago Accepted Solution by:natcom2005-09-06 his is a common error you get from winsock when you are out of ports on the client (load generating) machine. Windows (NT/2K/XP) has a default of 5000 ports that can be used for socket connections. 1,024 of these are reserved, which leaves a total of 3,976 ports available. Ipsec Won't Start Started by driftripper155 , Mar 31 2005 02:12 PM Please log in to reply 4 replies to this topic #1 driftripper155 driftripper155 TEG Forum Member Members 31 posts Posted 31 March 2005 - 02:12 PM I have a laptop that I'm attempting to connect through VPN to my network at work. I'm using a sonicwall global VPN client to connect to our sonicwall router at work. Other people have no trouble doing this but I'm having trouble because it seems that the vpn client relies on IPsec to function and IPsec won't start. It gives me the error: Could not start the IPSEC Services service on Local Computer Error 10048: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol, network address/port) is normally permitted. I'm not sure where this problem is or how to correct it. It's the first time I've come across this. If there's anyone out there who's had similar problems and got them resolved, please offer some advice. Thanks, Matt 0 Back to top #2 Alatar1 Alatar1 Asst.
