Redis Bind Error 10048
Demo Software From: Henne, Larry Arvind, Recently, the most common cause for Teradata not starting socket bind error 10048 on Windows 2000 is due to SP3. If you are using Windows 2000 SP3, then you should replace \program files\ncr\tdat\pde\04.01.00.00\bin\pdelib.dll with the pdelib.dll that is in the files4xp.zip

file that can be downloaded from the bottom of the page at www.teradata.com.... Usually the Teradata V2R4.1 Demo only has a Teradata Gateway port problem with Windows XP. If you are having this problem, then you should get the following error after starting Windows: "Teradata GTW Reserve Port Event: Bind error: 10048 Gtwrsrvtdmst must start immediately after TCP/IP initialization Rebooting should resolve the problem." If you are having the Teradata Gateway problem, then use notepad to insert the text below into a file named tgtw_service.reg. Execute tgtw_service.reg to modify your registry database. To execute the reg file double-click it from Windows Explorer. Then verify that the tdmst value in the etc\services file is 1025 and restart Windows. The Teradata Gateway should then work OK with port 1025. --------------------------------------------------------------- Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GtwRsrvTdmst] "Group"="TDI" "DependOnService"=hex(7):54,00,63,00,70,00,69,00,70,00,00,00,00,00 "DependOnGroup"=hex(7):00,00 --------------------------------------------------------------- Larry Henne

RanD (Programmer) (OP) 28 Aug 02 08:53 Has anyone successfully run the Teradata Demo (Version 2 - V2R4.1) on a WindowsXP machine?I http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=346985 have a Gateway Solo 9550 laptop that I would like to run the demo on.It is more than capable hardware-wise, but unfortunately it came with WindowsXP Pro, not Windows2000 Pro.I have been to the Teradata site and dl'd their files and readmes for running the demo on WindowsXP, but unfortunately, I have one of the PC's that gives out the documented, 'Teradata GTW Reserve Port Event: Bind error 10048' problem.I tried the workaround but didn't get anywhere.Since WXP market share continues to increase, I am hoping someone out there has been able to get this working. Also, can you tell me, if you have it working, does the client software work or is it just the database that works?By that I mean that I have discoveredBTEQ, BTEQWin, FEXP client software doesn't like WindowsXP either.Without the ability to run those clients, getting the database to work isn't all that attractive an option to me.The purpose of putting the demo on my laptop is to be able to debug bteq scripts, help in classrooom instruction settings, etc.So I need the whole 'shootin match' to work on WindowsXP.If you've been able to do this and to conquer the 'Teradata GTW Reserve Port Event: Bind error 10048' problem, sing out please !TiARanD(randvol0826@aol.com) RE: Teradata Demo on WindowsXP. . . anyone know how to do it? tdatgod (Programmer)
