Solved PXE Booting with Norton Ghost 8.0 CE and 3COM Boot Services Posted on 2005-01-24 Operating Systems 1 Verified Solution 12 Comments 11,238 Views Last Modified: 2008-01-09 OK, so I error 10048 have Norton Ghost 8.0 Corporate Edition and I'm trying to get in to Ghost Casting and booting from the network. I have installed 3COMs PXE boot services, and created all the files. However, when I try to fire up the PXE server I get these errors on the Windows XP SP2 box that it's installed on: Error 10048: Unable to bind socket to port 67 (10.14.xxx.xxx) And occasionally: Error 10048: Unable bind error 10048 to bind socket to port 4011 (10.14.xxx.xxx) The error messages are coming from the 3COM boot services. This is Windows XP so it's obviously not a DHCP server and I have DHCP Proxy enabled, but still no good. I have no understanding as to why this isn't working. I thought it might be a firewall issue, but there are exceptions in Windows XP firewall for the software and eventually I even turned the firewall off. Still no good. My objective is to: #1. Get the PXE Boot server working properly #2. Actually get a machine to boot from it properly and load an image. Can anyone please help? 0 Question by:GATOR420 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 51 Active 5 days ago Best Solution byNetman66 Yes, option 60 tells the PXE client agent where to find the boot files. Now, with respect to that service failure. Add an entry to Services for port 4011 for this service - use the same syntax as Go to Solution 12 Comments LVL 51 Overall: Level 51 Operating Systems 9 Message Active 5 days ago Expert Comment by:Netman662005-01-24 According to 3com, the PXE server and DHCP server should be on different boxes.
