Socket Error 10054 Connection Reset By Peer Delphi
05, 2012 9:11 pm I have a script that uses FTP commands. Running it on smg socket error 10054 connection reset by peer an XP environment it quits with the error message "Socket error # 10054 Connection reset by peer" after a while . The compiled

script and MSCHED.EXE are whitelisted in the firewall settings. So this should actually not happen. What surprises me is that when I turn off the XP firewall the script will run without any problem. Same for the realvnc connection reset by peer 10054 compiled script. Thus, it should be a standard XP firewall issue. Has anyone encountered this issue and found a solution to it? Thanks a lot! gknopf Newbie Posts: 12Joined: Thu Feb 10, 2011 11:11 pmLocation: Germany Top Share On: Facebook Twitter FriendFeed Digg Reddit Delicious Tumblr Google+ MySpace by olllllliii » Fri Nov 09, 2012 3:17 pm Which kind of firewall do u use...?? Which ports are opend ? Do u use a VPN ? 10054 connection reset by peer loadrunner -------------- most time it is following --------------------- This error indicates that an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. This normally results if the peer application on the remote host is suddenly stopped, ( not in your case ..i know ) the host is rebooted or the remote network was somehow disabled. (i know without the firewall its working ) A socket error 10054 can also be caused by any of the following reasons: ** Attempt configuring your FTP connection by enabling or disabling passive transfer (select or clear Passive file transfer ). (A,I) ** Try adding the Macro Scheduler to the list of trusted applications of your firewall. I use a Fritz!box router with standard setup (no port changes) and a XP computer with the Windows standard firewall. VPN is not in use and the compiled script is on the whitelist of the firewall. With Win7 this problem does not occur. Changing active / passive did not produce a different result. gknopf Newbie Posts: 12Joined: Thu Feb 10, 2011 1

10054 Socket Error
8:24 pm Socket Error # 10054, Connection Reset by Peer Quote Postby abaginskie » Wed Oct 06, 2010 8:36 pm I'm getting a Socket Error during syncronization of my files. It's a big file https://www.mjtnet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7494 over 100Mb and we just switched to a new FTP service provider, which might be part of the issue. I also set up SyncBack Free Version on a different PC so that is part of the puzzle as well. Syncronization worked fine before we made the changes. Anyway, what can I do to find out why the connection is being dropped? Also doesn't SyncBack try to reconnect to finish http://www.2brightsparks.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=7709 the backup of the rest of the files? Once it fails on the one file it fails on the rest of the backup job. Does one of the licensed versions handle these errors better or reconnect to finish the backup job? The FTP site is hosted by, "A2 Hosting, Inc.", has anyone used or tested SyncBack with this ISP before? A new FTP provider (and probably new server software) may be the reason, obviously. Possibly a new (or differently configured) firewall (etc) on the new PC might be 'contributing' also. The commercial versions have a completely different FTP engine (significantly superior, especially in getting round server foibles, as is a lot of our code - but they cannot always work miracles). They also have far better error reporting (not to mention practically everything else). Free 30-day trials are available http://www.2brightsparks.com/assets/sof ... _Setup.exe http://www.2brightsparks.com/assets/sof ... _Setup.exe The differences are here http://www.2brightsparks.com/syncback/compare.html but in FTP terms they are simply that Pro supports SFTP, SE does not (otherwise SE & Pro are

I let it keep retrying and eventually it works. Not sure if this is because of a setting in the client, or a problem with the server, or what... I have tried many other FTP clients and they all upload fine with no errors . But I'd much prefer to use filezilla.I am running XP connection reset by pro, with Filezilla version 3.1.1.1. For example my router running the TomatoUSB by Shibby firmware has a setting under "TCP Timeout" for "established" connections. This timer is triggered to close an idle connection after the user defined number of seconds. If this value is set to say 60 seconds any FTP connection that is idle for more than 60 seconds might be disconnected. Routers and firewalls will often silently close the connection, which means the software on either end of the connection may not be informed of the loss of connection and it isn't until they attempt to send data that they realize that the connection was reset. Another less common reason is some devices such as routers and firewalls typically have a connection limit, when this limit is reached the oldest connection is dropped. This can be a problem when using file sharing application such as Torrents and FrostWire. bigstar View Public Profile Visit bigstar's homepage! Find More Posts by bigstar 11-21
