So, I typed in the command prompt: 'net start MySQL', and it gave me this error message listed in the subject line. Anyone know how to alleviate this? Thanks for your help! mysql xampp mysql-error-1067 share|improve this question edited Apr 26 '11 at 23:30 OMG Ponies 199k37360417 error 1067 the process terminated unexpectedly mysql wamp asked Jan 2 '11 at 6:01 Spencer B. 1181515 add a comment| 7 Answers 7 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote This did the trick for me: http://serverfault.com/questions/214435/error-1067-the-process-terminated-unexpectedly-when-trying-to-install-mysql-on/214846#214846 Of course, in this case, you have to completely clean up the xampp folder, which doesn't always happen. I guess I backed up the necessary files first (data folder from mysql folder and the htdocs folder). Uninstall XAMPP. Check the xampp folder for any content that remains and delete everything. You may want to reboot afterwards, just in case. Then reinstall XAMPP. Copy the backed-up folders back to their respective places, and hopefully, mySql will work again in XAMPP. share|improve this answer answered Aug 9 '11 at 14:44 Giraldi 6,89231522 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote In my case it was enough to give full (absolute) paths to the xampp/mysql/bin/my.ini file. For example I changed basedir from "/xampp/mysql/" to: "E:/xampp/mysql/", and so on. share|improve this answer answered Oct 4 '11 at 13:48 boryn 1188 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote This or this might help you, if you're on windows According to the posts, uninstalling then reinstalling with the --d

That can probably tell you more about whats wrong. –jkavalik May 8 '15 at 5:29 This is how my error log looks shrib.com/z7YVQHGr –user3736408 May 8 '15 at 5:58 From that log it seems mysql can not find its data files, so either you did not copy data folder properly or the change of datadir is wrong. (It does not seem like permission issue or similar, because according to that errorlog new ibdata1 was created because original one was not found) –jkavalik May 8 '15 at 6:10 I have copied the data directory to my G drive –user3736408 May 8 '15 at 6:41 Then

First I would to say that I have an older version of MySQL 3.23 which is old but I have no problem installing it. It works. Also, I have 4.0 and it worked as well but I no longer have access to it. I am having a hard time getting MySQL 5.1.22-rc-community started. Note: I have been at this for about 3 days now. I have installed and uninstall many times already.
