I am running Win XP Pro with a norton firewall and have a D-link wireless router. I have done all the usual malware scanning etc, and I removed the router but still can not get this connection to an FTP site to display in IE. I have reset all IE controls to the standard settings etc. Can anyone detail what might be wrong and how to fix this issue as I need access to this site in my Job search functions. I am unemployed at present and have lost two days here so some kind guru please come to the rescue. NOTE: I was having no problems on Friday with full activation of the firewall, and the government site is working for sue but not for me. Under "Browsing" make sure "Use Passive FTP" is checked. You may need to close and reopen your IE browser. Frank4d, Jun 5, 2007 #2 pkotarba Thread Starter Join

Now, I cannot access the internet... get "IE cannot display the webpage" on everything EXCEPT secure (HTTPS) sites. Diags gives: HTTPS: Successfully connected to www.microsoft.com FTP(Passive): Successfully connected to www.microsoft.com HTTP: Error 12029 connecting to www.microsoft.com: a connection to the server could not be established. My daughters computer, which connects through the same router, works fine. Also, when I go to Control Panel/Internet Connections, right click on my internet connection and chose Status, nothing happens... I get no status display. It almost seems like there is a file missing or something. Thoughts?
