System Error 1314 Has Occurred A Required Privilege Is Not Held By The Client
the microsoft utility Subinacl.exe. All attempts to use this utility under an account which has anything less dism error: 1314 a required privilege is not held by the client. than Administrative status on the Filer fail. For example running the following command subinacl /subdirectories \\sharesfiler\adm$
Error 1314 Robocopy
Operator group membership on the Filer returns an error message - CreateFile Error : 1314 A required privilege is not held by the client. The account the command is being run under has both Full Control on the share and the ACL. If we use other MS utilities to perform the same function such as cacls, xcalcs error 1314 a required privilege is not held by the client cluster service or the windows GUI we can view and alter all ACLs without the need to grant the account Administative status. This implies that the access permissions are sufficient and therefore there is something subinacl is doing that is different to other tools designed for the same purpose. Upgrading the account priveleges to Administrator overcomes this problem but this is not an option except in our test environment. This behaviour is consistant on Ontap 6.5.7, 7.0.5, 7.0.6 and 7.2.2 implying that its not a release bug. Has anyone else come across this behaviour before or have any idea what subinacl is doing that the other tools do not? Your assistance will be appreciated. rgds, Oisin hollandwl at gmail Aug3,2007,5:36AM Post #2 of 2 (4468 views) Permalink Re: Using Subinacl for CIFS ACL changes [In reply to] Take a look at https://now.netapp.com/eservice/toolchest?toolid=249 I use the na_ntfschown to set ownership on our users' personal storage folders so that quotas will work properly. Our security model only allows administrators to take ownership. I

I have a folder that I can't use due to "not having permissions". I can't copy files from the folder, can't move the folder, nothing. Not as admin, not as my user, etc. I can go error 1314 in and try to change the permissions and it says I have full control. I really don't get it and it's a hard thing to explain... Could the drive be on the outs? It is old... __________________ 01-06-2011, 04:19 AM #2 sahabcse In Runtime Join Date: Jan 2011 Posts: 277 Re: Stubborn permissions. please let a required privilege me know folder permission issue in windows machine or linux machine? Not likely to be a drive problem. I actually have a great tool which simplifies Microsoft's process as outlined here: How do I restore security settings to a known working state? The files are on my server here: http://www.amdarchive.com/permissionreset To use the program, download the two files to a folder somewhere other than the folder you're having problems with. I recommend C:\permissionreset to keep things simple. RIGHT click on the fpermission.bat file and choose Edit (or Open With > Notepad) You should see this: Code: cd \ "k:\!!Tools\Permission Reset\subinacl.exe" /subdirectories j:\*.* /setowner=Everyone /Grant=Everyone ECHO Permissions Modified. PAUSE If you kept with my suggestion earlier to download it to the C:\Permissionreset folder, you'd change the contents to look like this: Code: cd \ "C:\permissionreset\subinacl.exe" /subdirectories j:\*.* /setowner=Everyone /Grant=Eve
This is actually happening on a 2003 server, but there is not 2003 server group, so I hope this is a good place for the question: I have a 2003 server that I am trying to backup with Veritas Backup Exec 9.1. Because of services running on other servers that I backup, I use pre and post backup commands within Veritas. Before any server is backed up, Veritas runs c:\prebackup.bat and after the job is complete Veritas runs c:\postbackup.bat on each server. These batch files are on the local C drive of every server in my environment. Many of these contain commands to stop and start Oracle services and other DB services that can't be running while the backup is happening. For those servers without services needing to be stopped and started, the batch files only contain an exit command. This works very well on all my NT4 and 2000 servers. We have 1 2003 server in our data center and this just does not work on this one server. The error I get is "Error: Could not start Pre Job Command < c:\prebackup.bat >. Error (1314): A required privilege is not held by the client." The file definately exists and the Backup Exec service account is a member of Domain Admins. Any thoughts on what the problem might be? Please reply to the group (for everyone's benefit), but also via e-mail if you would as we block NNTP. (I had to open it up just long enough to post this question) Thanks Charles Braun, Mar 30, 2004 #1 Advertisements Pegasus \(MVP\) Guest Re: A required privilege is not held by the client "Charles Braun" <> wrote in message news:... > This is actually happening on a 2003 server, but there is not 2003 server > group, so I hope this is a good place for the question: > > I have a 2003 server that I am trying to backup with Veritas Backup Exec > 9.1.
