Service not Starting - Error 1314: A required privilege is not held by the client error 1314 robocopy Windows Server > High Availability (Clustering) Question 0 Sign in to vote When initially configured the cluster, I set it up to windows error 1314 use a domain admin user. Because other issues - not related with cluster - we had with this account, it was deleted and recreated the same account (The same spelling - identical account name). The cluster service will not start using the newly created domain admin account. Then I changed

the cluster service to use a userid with domain admin rights (also member of the local Administrators group) and password. The service does not start due to the following error: Services Could not start the Cluster Service service on Local Computer. Error 1314: A required privilege is not held by the client. You can then review this article - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q269229 and ensure the cluster service account has all those rights and that they are 'effective' rights meaning, no GPOs are yanking them away after they are applied. Since this is a W2K8 forum I will
Guest I'm in a bit of a bind and I could really use some help. This morning, we rebooted one of the cluster nodes in our two node W2K3 cluster. The first rslinx error 1314 indication of a problem is that nothing failed over to the second node and then error 1314 the specified path is unavailable when the first node came back up, the cluster service failed to start with the message "a required privilege is not held
Error 1314 A Required Privilege Produkey
by the client". After restarting the second node's cluster service, it fails with the same error. I'm at a complete loss to explain why this is happening and how to fix it, so if anybody could provide https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/5e9349ce-9698-434a-9e54-2630aaafd0ef/cluster-service-not-starting-error-1314-a-required-privilege-is-not-held-by-the-client?forum=winserverClustering some insight, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. dln, Sep 28, 2005 #1 Advertisements dln Guest Ok, my fault ... I change the "Backup Files and Directories" right for the cluster's group policy and didn't include the cluster service's service account in the list. Everything works just fine now. Thanks anyways. dln "dln" <> wrote in message news:... > I'm in a bit of a bind and I could really use some http://www.winvistatips.com/threads/cluster-service-fails-to-start-with-a-required-privilege-is-not-held-by-the-client.776042/ help. Make sure that the account is a member of the local administrators group on both nodes and that the domain account used for the cluster service is not locked or disabled. If you are really stuck you could try making the cluster service account a domain adminstrator just to get you running. If that does not work then it sounds like something was specifically changed on the user rights for the service account. Good
