tables that live on a server called \\Stratus, that I believe runs Windows Server 2008 R2. Access can't connect to Stratus because the clock on the user's computer is too different from the clock on Stratus. This is due to a 'security feature' on Windows Server 2008. IT has a logon script that runs on every computer when the user logs on, which runs the following command: Net time \\Stratus /set /y This retrieves error 1314 the specified path is unavailable the time from Stratus and sets the computer to that time, so the computer time and server time are in sync, preventing the issue above. Recently this script seems to have stopped working, meaning the time on the computers is not correct, causing the problem I listed above to occur. Running this command in a cmdwindow results in the following error: System error 1314: a required privilege is not held by the user. I received this error while running the command on my profile, where I am the computer administrator. What is going on here? If I right click cmd and select Run as administrator, I can run the command successfully. Anyone have any insight on this problem? Was there a recent update to windows that hosed this command? 0 Back to top #2 Wingman Wingman Mild-mannered Elder Geek Admin 9,348 posts Gender:Male Location:East Coast, USA Posted 13 March 2015 - 09:22 AM While there may be members that have Server expertise, the majority of TEG members only deal with home/personal computers and are not equipped to deal with "server" issues. 8.1 IT Pro > Windows 8.1 General Question 0 Sign in to vote Hi Windows 8 Pro integrated into w32tm /resync access is denied a domain. We have a software that uses a kind of "net time \\server /set" to sync the time. Everytime it starts on this machine it produces an error "a http://www.theeldergeek.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=49351 required privilege is not held by the client" "system error 1314" We gave the everyone group and also local service account over the Default Domain Policy already the rights to change the system clock. But this error still remains. Windows 7 machines in this domain a working without this error. Any ideas wht to change on this windows 8 machine? thx Sven https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/0634dd0c-8450-4192-af98-af9f19acb508/system-error-1314-a-required-privilege-is-not-held-by-the-client-net-time-server-set?forum=w8itprogeneral Thursday, July 11, 2013 11:07 AM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Hi, It should be a permission issue. Please right click the software and run as Administrator for a test.Niki Han TechNet Community Support

Hi http://www.computerforums.org/forums/server-administration/synchronize-system-time-216762.html all, please help me a problem as below. I could not sync system time between Server(windows server 2008 raised domain controller) and client computer. Because when I sysc by command line from client computer "net time \\computername /set" then it said "System error 1314 has occurred. A required privilege is not held by the client." athough, I have turned on windowtime from client computers. From client computer we can run "net time" or error 1314 not? if it can, please tell me how to run it on user account. (I dont want use administrator account) Your helps would be appreciated Thanks in advance. __________________ 04-20-2012, 08:45 PM #2 chirkware Baseband Member Join Date: Apr 2012 Location: USA Posts: 44 Re: synchronize system time. The net time command requires admin rights to run, so letting users run that command (assume you are wanting to put a required privilege this in a login script) won't work. You can, however, accomplish your goal with Group Policy. I'm actually getting ready to implement this where I work myself. I found that the previous network admin had the login scripts set to run the command you mentioned, BUT...users are non admins so this same error you are seeing would occur. Here's an article I found that gives instructions for the Group Policy solution: Configure Windows NTP client GPO Like I said, I've not implemented it myself yet, but plan to very soon. We have three domain controllers (Server 2008 R2), and have made them all NTP servers. One thing I need to decide is how I will implement this policy. I'm thinking I'll set it per organizational unit (OU) instead of at the domain level so I can split the load between the servers (we have nine offices, each is a separate OU). __________________ 04-21-2012, 02:27 AM #3 thaimic Baseband Member Join Date: Jun 2011 Posts: 69 Re: synchronize system time. thank chirkware so much. your advices is very useful for me. thank you. « help me | SAS Drives » Thread Tools Show Printable Version Display Modes Linear Mode Switch to Hybrid Mode Switch to Threaded Mode Search this Thread Advanced Search Po
